Ping seems to have setup a contract with Arrcos which includes Arrcos grips on their new clubs. I bought a set of G-425 irons not knowing this. The grips have a Arrcos chip built into the end of the club. The problem is the end of the grip bends about an inch down when you swing. A very awkward feeling. I sent them back to Ping and they regriped them at no charge. I think they are about 1/2 inch shorter now which doesn't make me very happy even though I do like the club performance. Not sure why Ping entered into this deal. To me it has more negatives than positives.

I think the extra inch is just that - an extra inch. (I also don't think it's anything like a full inch).

Clubs should be measured to where the shaft ends, basically. On most grips that's pretty easy because the butt cap is maybe 1/4". With the Arccos sensors, that's a bit more (still < 1" I think).

So, you're probably not supposed to grip all the way out to the end of the grip when you have Arccos sensors. I don't think your clubs are truly an "inch shorter" now.

@iacas the club may actually be shorter. Not an inch but more like .25. I was looking at order custom Cobra clubs a while back and it stated if you wanted different grips to add .25 length to them due to the club now being shorter due to being set for Arrcos  grips to start.

Interesting. Thanks. A quarter inch shouldn’t matter much, and I still don’t encourage gripping out to the sensor.

Thank you for sharing.

iacas  I agree I wish I could learn to choke down slightly on my grips but I have a bad habit of my hands gripping at the tip of the club.  thank you for the information.

    • Day 47: simulator day! Played St. Andrew’s and shot a +1. Not bad, especially with having to putt at this simulator set up. Had about 5 minutes at the end to work on some feels as well.
    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.

    • So the question was posed today by some of my friends.  Is a pitch mark the same as a divot?  I thought NO, but they argued if your ball lands in another player's divot (made by club during a swing) this was the same as a pitch mark, i.e. the ball mark made when the ball lands
