Hello,

I am 6'3" and an 11 handicap. I have been a low ball hitter all my life. Most of my shots with mid to long irons and woods come in hot... low spin, low carry distance and tons of roll, lots of distance. Basically, I hit a forehand topspin to use a tennis term or knuckleballs in baseball. :)

Below are my stats from a recent TM club fitting using a P770-20 7 iron (specs below). I'm am trying to find out why my spin rate and peak height are so low! Could using old range balls have a significant impact on spin rate? The club is 1" over... could that effect spin rate? Any suggestions on how to hit the ball higher with more carry and spin, given the stats below?

Thanks,

Joel

Range balls don't generally spin much, yes. I'd insist on a fitting with the same type of balls you use to play.

Yea, that is very low spin. I wonder what your angle of attack is compared to your dynamic loft at impact. Your launch angle is good. The spin rate is just way too low.

The type of ball influences spin rate more so on irons and wedges than driver. So, a range ball could cause some lower spin numbers. With your ball speed, you should be in the high 6000's towards 7000 rpm.

Could be the ball + golf shaft + how you swing
