I do not get a lot of spin on my wedge shots and I know that Vokey spin milled wedges get 10% more spin then normal wedges and I need a 52 degree and a 58 degree. I was wondering if it is worth it to get a 54 degree wedge bent to 52 degrees to get that extra spin that I wouldn't get from a 200 series vokey.

Yeah I dont quite know where you are coming from with this. Getting the ball to spin back on the green is a combination of several things from the ball you use, the way you strike it, and the conditions of the green you are playing on. It doesnt always happen automatically with a type of club.

IMO the only reason you should get a wegde loft bent is for spacing issues. i got my 48 degree vokey bent to 47 to better space between my 9i. Though the best player that I talk to reguraly always uses a spin milled 58 degree bent to 59 and tells me it is the most versatile club in his bag..so i guess it depends on the players abillity to use the club.

But no, bending a 54 to 52 isnt going to get you any more spin than you would have normally gotten with a proper gap wedge.

I think he meant should he get the spin milled in 54 and have it bent because they don't make one in 52 - only the 200 series.

You can get it bent--just remember the change in the BOUNCE could throw out how the club reacts with the turf..best of luck

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

Thanks guys, sorry for the ambiguous phrasing... I think that I'm just gonna get the 52 degree in the 200 series.

Cant go wrong there, i have one as well. It is my primary chipping club and very useful for 40-50 yd pitch shots that you want to hit lower with a little 2 bounce and stop type realese. When I try that shot with a 56 i often end up just popping it up into the air and it stops were it lands.

    • I’m sure this varies by course and agree speed will change as dew burns off and/or the sun bakes the greens.
    • How do you like the maxfli's? (Which ones?)
    • I am using up my Taylor made distance balls. Went thru half of my tp5’s. Prolly finish the season with axt titliest. But not buying any. I still have a few hundred maxfli balls in my safe.
    • Well you were certainly right about this. Didn't notice much difference from when I switched to the e12's from the Kirkland balls. But today when I first tried the Vice Pro's, wow noticeable difference. Longest drives I've had so far and I think I need to club down on iron shots with it. Kept overshooting the green with them. Great feel and sound too.
    • My boss, out of the blue yesterday, asked me if it ever gets too hot for me to play. I've played in 112* in Phoenix before. Fairly frequently play in mid-90s in NY. Those days are worse than the 112 in Phoenix. I said no. But I'll play in anything. I've played in sleet, snow, hail (one time it hailed on us while blowing a steady 45mph gusting to 55mph - as verified by an anemometer in the clubhouse), torrential rain, high winds, cold, hot, you name it.  Lightning will get me off the golf course though. I'm not an idiot (well, not that much of one anyway).
