You just show yourself to be a complete donkey with that.

People like you are everything that is wrong with game of golf. Its snobby jerks like yourself that make me not like the tournament across the pond. Older isn't necessarily better in my book.

elsfan, how can you not appreciate the many absurd cultural nuances of the open? like that old bat who announces everyone at the first tee, risking bladder damage holding his urine all day just so he can be ready every 15 minutes. really, it takes 2 minutes to run to the loo and so i can't figure out why this guy makes a big spectacle of the day holding it in. i imagine we will have some colorful commentary when this guy's gears begin to loosen and he has to take a few breaks potty breaks.

They will beat their swords into golf clubs and their spears into putters. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Old Tom Morris 2:4

Yeah, his tone needs some real help.

The Open was, however, the first stroke play event ever. Gotta give it some ups for that.

I guess if you search deep enough you can find beauty in anything. lol

I appreciate it. It is my least favorite major though.

Well we do agree on "The" Open.

I don't remember ever sitting down and watching the thing. I catch the results when I get home from the course. Next week, I'm watching.

Actually last year it could have been my favorite cause I got to see Mr.Europe Sergio blow it.

i think the pga championship really needs to improve it is the weakest link out of all the majors. Probably because every other year tiger will just dominate and it will be a boring.

Snobby? No, I don't think so. The quote from you I was zeroing in on was 'British open not considered a major to me'.

In fact, the entire list you posted was: "1.U.S. Open 2.The Masters 3.Pga Championship 4.The Players Championship 5.John Deer Classic 6.My regional championship 7.Junior Golf Last in the world.British open not considered a major to me" If that doesn't exemplify chauvinistic snobbery then I struggle for an alternative definition. If I said 'The US Open is not considered a Major to me' and placed it the bottom of a similar list, you'd think I was an ignorant ass and I expect you would say so - and, you know something? You would be absolutely right. If your tone in doing so was robust then I think very few people would disagree with you - and I could not complain nor expect anyone else to come to my defense. As I said, one can legitimately argue that you prefer others but to suggest that the British Open isn't a Major is crackers.

The Masters because for me, it's the most exciting golf of the year. I just love the Sundays when the back 9 is a free for all and there is no way to know who will win it.

1. British open (open championship).
2. US Open - Like seeing the thick rough and watching people putting on glass like greens.
3. Masters - Prestigious and a lot of fantastic players, also the first major.
4. PGA Championship - It doesn't seem as special :s

By far the Masters is my favorite followed by the British then the US Open.
Is there a fourth? I think the Memorial should be the fourth.

1. The Masters...it's an absurdly immaculate tract, (plus I still think the board of directors run the USA), also seems the Pros are the most proud of the "Master's Champion" Title.

2. The Open Campionship....obviously moves to the best major when played at St. Andrews, sorry blue bloods...I like pure golf, keep your blooming flowers.

3. US open...sort of boring, but I watch

Hiya all.
I've gone for the Open.
The Masters is a good competition, and clearly the one of the moment, but seriously, how could you vote for the club that only allowed a black member in 1990. 1990! Just shocking.

Read the piece on the sandtrap website for more info.

My list would be:

1. Masters. Much of it is because it is the first one of the year. I love all the tradition and the course is awesome.

2. US Open. Always ends on Father's Day. I get to play in the morning in an outing then come home and relax in front of the TV watching the final round.

3. Open Championship. I love the fact that coverage is on in the morning when I get home from playing. Great history at some of the orriginal courses.

4. PGA Championship. Someone had to come in 4th. It's still a major and it still has great players playing great courses. Not much bad to say.

    • On the subject of teenagers in professional tournaments there is a kid (Kris Kim) who is a member of my club in England and is at my old school. He’s 16. He’s playing in the pga tour event in Texas this week. Shot 69 yesterday for T31 and is -2 today through 5 holes. T55 and on the cut line. I really hope he makes the cut. Will be awesome.    His dad I believe is a teaching pro and his mum was on the LPGA Tour for a while.
    • I have two contenders here that stick out to me: In second place, a putt to win the hole playing the 16th hole at Burnham and Berrow. Playing foursomes and the green has a big bank at the front then a flat bit and then it goes up again to a back shelf. My partner had hit our second shot onto the back shelf. We were 2up at the time and he was being a little wobbly so we didn’t want to lose the hole. Our oppo were conceded a 4 and my partner told me to just lag it down there nicely. 20 year old me meant to do that and failed. I hit it a bit hard and it was definitely going to clear the tier and probably run off the front of the green, but it hit the hole right in the middle and went in. My partner was very happy we won the hole but quite upset at my ability to follow instructions.    Number 2 is my most memorable. I was about 16 playing in the junior knockout at my club. We get to the 10th hole - long par 4 and index 2. I didn’t hit a very good drive, hit my second up about 60 yards short and pitched on to maybe 25 feet. I started walking and I got this feeling. I knew I was going to hole it. There was no doubt at all. I’ve never felt like that any other time in my life but this one putt was a certainty. It was February and the greens had been recently hollow tined so they were in awful shape. I didn’t even line it up. I hit my putt and it bumped and bounced all over the place until it went in the middle of the hole. If I could bottle up that feeling and sell it I’d be up there with Bezos and musk. Mind blowing!
    • It's strange how ONE person can be THAT much different/better/whatever than anyone else.
    • I saw a YouTube review on a bunch of ball brands and the Maxfli Tour X did very well in comparison. I bought a sleeve and found them to be excellent in feel and distance. But I’m a lousy golfer so nobody probably cares about my opinion. 😃
