I'm just hoping for a Capitals/Penguins first-round match-up right now. That would be great for the NHL. If Crosby and Malkin handle the postseason well, they have a good shot at winning it all. It will be interesting to see how they handle the pressure as the playoffs move along into the later rounds.

Not to change the topic but... the NCAA Frozen four is next week... GO BLUE! I think Michigan really has a chance, but BC will be tough if they get by North Dakota.

When I was 17 I went to Toronto for spring break... why did I go to Canada when all my friends were going to Florida and Mexico you ask... because 4 of us wanted to go to the hockey hall of fame and to a Leafs game, etc. I am a Wings fan... so I naturally dislike the Leafs... but the history is great. Being 17 we all decided it would be a good idea to pee on Maple Leaf Gardens just for shits and giggles... that was kind of funny... we even took a picture to prove it... we wanted to give it to this Canadian girl we went to high school with who was all about the Leafs... I think she had her brother cross check us next time we played drop-in.

I think we'll see a Canadiens/San Jose Finals showdown myself. Candiens win due to their superior special teams though. My lowly Flyers just squeaked in the playoffs and will fall in the second round to the damn Devils. Ouch...again.

Don't underestimate the WILD. They looked pretty good down the stretch and are healthy. Gaborik is playing some of his best hockey. If Backstrom can pull it together I think the WILD could be the underdog that does some damage.

If you think the Wild are going anywhere, you better hope someone else in the West knocks off the Sharks, because its not going to be Minnesota.

It goes without saying that I think the Teal are going to hoist the Cup this year.

I know it's a long shot but I really would love to see the Flyers win it all

Heres the current and probable matchups---we should have a Sand Trap Picks for the playoffs--it would be interesting and we could see who wins on their NHL picks

Doesn't really matter how the Pens, Sens, Habs, etc. are doing... any one of them will fall to one of he powerhouses of the West... e.g. Wings, Ducks, Sharks, Stars.

Just like how the Giants fell to the Patriots?

You know what they say about assuming.

yeah, but herein lies the difference in hockey and football... a hockey series is seven games, so the better team is more likely to win... but I will concede the point that anything is possible. Just don't get your hopes up too high.

It is nice to see the Pens having such a good year though, especially after all the arena trouble and talks of moving, etc.

Okay, how about the Pirates over the Yankees in the 1960 World Series?

    • Yes, agree that there should be more TV coverage. I think the fact that they don't have the swing speed of their male counterparts makes it (slightly) more relatable, in that the rough is more of a penalty and the lack of distance means they are often pulling longer irons or lumber to get home on par fives. I think this season has been a bit tough on the LPGA to build much of a narrative with no one winning more than one tournament. And you could argue that they didn't really make hay with Nelly's run of wins, which should have been crowding out Caitlin Clark for female sports story of last year. One piece that they need to fix is the slow play - I would argue there is less player power compare to PGAT, so I don't understand why they aren't hitting the repeat offenders with stroke penalties. They have taken some strides in that respect this season, so let's hope Kessler continues the momentum.
