I've been Playing Golf for many years.  First time videoing myself.  WOW!  It's eye-opening.
My current handicap index: 17.5
My typical ball flight is: Very inconsistent.

The biggest thing is consistency.  I've golfed a long time, just now getting more serious about it.  Took lessons the last two Springs, brought my handicap down from about a 22-24.

The things I see that I don't like are:  Head lifting up on follow thru.  I rarely top the ball, so I'm not sure how big of an issue it is.  It looks like my takeaway is different from the swing...2 different planes.  Is this bad?

Thanks in advance.

Please review this blog post about how to film your swing. Also, filming is slow motion is preferred.

A couple of things:

  1. For the down the line view, have your camera aimed along your toe line or slightly in front of your toe line. You have it at the ball to target line. If you read the film blog, it explains why this view is needed.
  2. your swing is way over the top meaning the club head is approaching the ball from out to in. This can cause a world of problems like slices, hooks, etc.
  3. You have very little weight shift forward in your downswing which can cause 2 above.
  4. The best way to work on this is to start with setup and backswing and work on these pieces. Check out the drills in the thread below. Day 1-5 deal with setup, backswing and downswing. I recommend you work on these drills one at a time and post the drills here in this thread.
