I didn't either.  I like it as a way to give the guys a base income.  It probably would make sense for them to look at having a higher tier to for guys who play more than 25-30 rounds.  Give some of these players incentive to play in events to increase the quality of the fields.

I don't think that tracks. They get the $50k, and if they're playing 25-30 events, odds are they're making some decent money that will greatly outweigh the extra $25k or whatever that you want to give them.

I don't mind the spread as it is. Gotta reward those who make the cut, covers the expense of travel etc. Makes the biggest difference for those on the fringes.

I don't mind the lower guys making as much as they make, for some of the reasons mentioned already (cost of expenses, etc.). I like there being a reward and some degree of security when you make it to the tour. It is so difficult to succeed at professional sports, and I think golf is probably the toughest of the major sports for marginal players to survive, economically speaking. So if it was much worse for the lower players, you maybe run the risk that fewer gifted athletes will choose golf as their sport.

I think I heard some players one year saying they think the actual _winner_ should get a bigger share; in other words, you could keep the overall share of the top 10 guys the same, but have a bigger separation between the winner's share and the second and third place guys. I like this. Top 10's are a good indicator of how well you played, but what the players want most is the win.

CHW basically says "let Tour players accept appearance fees" in a long thread. Read the whole thread on Twitter; below is the first post.
