UK film starring Mark Rylance and Sally Hawkins about Maurice Flitcroft, a terrible golfer who did a bandit into the British Open. Rylance is a great actor, more known for dramatic roles (He was really good in Wolf Hall), you probably remember him from Bridge of Spies. Sally Hawkins is an amazing actress as well. Because the golfer he's portraying, well, sucks, he doesn't have to learn to make a decent looking swing, lol. Never heard of this guy before now, I guess UK folks are more than familiar with him. Looks like a whimsical feel good comedy, along the lines of The Full Monty. It's screening in the UK will probably get to the US in a couple of months. I'm in a city where foreign movies screen before most areas, so if I get requests for a review, I'll write one or maybe someone in the UK can watch it.

Here's the UK trailer looks like, the US trailer I think is not as good, underneath.

I think this is the US trailer.

Mark Rylance, Sally Hawkins, and Rhys Ifans star in the new film about the golfer's life.

If it shows up on a streaming service, I may watch it.  I do recall news articles on the original incident at one of the 1976 Open qualifying rounds.  Things were a lot looser back in those days.

So this will be screening in the US June 3 or 10, depending on where you live I guess.

Thanks for the update, I’ve been patiently waiting for it to be out in the US.

Saw the movie tonight with my daughter.  We both really enjoyed it.  Worth the ticket for anyone who was on the fence.
