How are very big playoffs handled?  I'm not thinking of first-place playoffs, but something like a qualifying round for a 64-player match play field and you've got something like a 15-way tie for 59th place.

Surely they can't have all 15 tee off in one group?  If nothing else there's no way they could avoid standing in each other's line on the green.  Do they tee off in smaller groups and the first finishers have to wait on the second tee to see who survives behind them?

Big playoffs occasionally appear at the club pro event that serves as a club pro qualifier for the PGA.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

    • Its not. They are just giving an example in a situation say if cant reach it. Example, You have 230 to the center of the green, you cant hit a club you have that far, so you whip out a 3/5 wood or whatever, but you have to hit it soft because there is trouble in front of the green, a bunker or water. A full swing would land you in the trouble. You want to lay up as close to the green as you can. So you aren't hitting a full shot with that club so for distance tracking you can make that shot a provisional and it wont affect the distance stats.

    • I had a 5 wood.  Now have moved onto hybrids and have a 4 hybrid.  As I get older a more lofted hybrid and/or 7 and 9 woods will come into my bag.  I have learnt that as swing speed declines, loft is your friend
