since when does burton make golf bags? is that the snowboard burton?

Different company. Burton has been making golf bags for something like 50 years. It appears they have been acquired in the last year or so by ForeFront Holdings, Inc. This same company also owns Datrek, according to their website. Hopefully their marketing will get better because Burton bags are very high quality -- I'd put them up there with Sun Mountain any day.

I know because my Team Play partner has one. We shared a cart for roughly 15 rounds this past Jan-Feb. The bags were loaded with rain gear, windshirts, etc. Why else would you want to have a bigger bag unless you planned on putting stuff in those pockets? It was tight with my SCB. It would have been frustrating if we both had C-130's.

This is the type of opinion/response that I was looking for. The scenario that you mention is exactly what I am trying to avoid. A few of the guys that I play with on a regular basis have really large bags, and I don't want to have to stuff both bags on the back of the cart. If the SCB Deluxe fits nicely I will take a look at those as an alternative to the C-130. Same features, but in a smaller package. Thanks!

I still haven't found someone locally that sells Sun Mountain. And things like this I like to see in person before I buy, even if I end up purchasing it online. Anyone else have any other suggestions?

I own a closeout Callaway Chevron cart bag...paying $89 from tgw. Great bag that fits within the confines of a golf cart and doesn't spill over to my partner's space. Material is very durable...which is the reason for the cart bag (stand bags don't have the same wear).

As for the comment about the concerns of dragging a bag to the range....I say this. You should have a second bag for when you do go to the range (ie a 3.5lbs Sun Mountain) or a Sunday Bag. Also when shopping for a cart bag...don't just place an empty bag on your shoulder before buying...but load it up with clubs to see how it feels. For instance....my Callaway is more balanced than my previous two strapped stand bag.

Here's a possibility?

I use the Titleist S-82 Staff Bag. It's just a bit smaller than an 18 wheeler , but I love it and all the space it has.

Now there is NO WAY to put this bag on a cart without leaning against it to push it in place, but I bought a "Golf Kart Kaddy" and life is good now!

Now it goes on with ease and I can access ANY pocket I want. If it works this good with my huge bag I would think it would be GREAT on a smaller bag. I've been using this for about six months and would NEVER think of going out without it!

Here's the link..... http://www.golfkartkaddy.com/

Now that's a really cool device. After looking at their web site I'm seriously thinking about getting one for use with my cart bag.

I was actually about to make a thread about this as I just saw the product last night. Is anyone using it currently? What are your thoughts?

Of course, you should all be walking (if physically possible). Using carts is an american disease...

I played on Sun in a threesome, all walking. Played in 3hrs 20min.

Carts don't speed up play.

And that right there is a pretty strong indicator that something isn't quite right.

If you say so. Most people dont want to spend the entire day playing.

This coming from the guy who spent $4K on a golf bag.

I'm not saying your that guy but most of the people I see tooling around in carts could stand to do a little more walking.

By the way, for the record, Im 6' tall and weigh 185 lbs. Im hardly that guy. I think you need to rethink your theory. Maybe some people have better things to do, than just walk around a golf course all day. maybe some want to play and get on with their life. Maybe where I live, the courses are too busy for that.

We should probably end this discussion.

However, why do you insist that walking slows down play? Cart path only (on some holes), 90* rule, two people in one cart driving all over the place - these are things that make play slow. I play as fast or faster walking as two players in a cart.

I'm not down on cart riders per se, I've riden plenty, but as an earlier poster pointed out the practice has become an indicator of a larger problem in golf: huge sprawling courses where it's practically impossible to walk and carts adding to the cost of playing a round. It's all part of an overall trend that is making golf inaccessable to the masses. This isn't a problem if you are independently wealthy, but if you are an average Joe with a mortgage and a family, then this trend is steadily making it harder to enjoy this great game.

We're getting way off topic, but the fact is carts aren't a necessity for the game. I'd like to see not only more walker friendly courses but maybe some walker only courses.

Come to Oregon! All the courses allow walking, and almost all of them are truly walkable. Of course, Bandon Dunes courses are walking only. (However, somebody's yellow/black shoes may get some sand on them..)

Come to Oregon!

Your kidding me right? You and your 10 posts on here are going to come and insult me because I choose not to walk a course? Little boy, that is just not necessary here.

    • Day 133 - Played 9 again. Driver was great, putting was better, but shots inside 100 were awful.
    • Day 36: 15 balls, same as last few days. Then a little indoor putting.
    • hey guys, sorry about the kind of short notice, but i'm not going to be able to make it to the outing this year....
    • Had to correct the distance - should have read 5,400 not 5,500  yds.
    • Had to report this one - played Minnesott again today with my son.  We played behind the Friday Men's group and had a decently paced round.  My round started off par-par-bogie.  I was feeling good to be +1 through three.  Played the next two par - par and then disaster hits - well I thought it may be the unravelling of +1 through five.  Tee shot on six is a hard pull hook into the ditch separating four and six.  I know the ball is lost and re-tee - hitting three off the tee on this par five.  Long story short - what should have been at worst a bogie became a triple 8.  Now I'm +4 through six holes.  Get a solid par on seven (which I celebrated as a solid recovery hole).  Eight is a birdie and I'm back to three over.  Nine, a par 3 over water, finishes par for a 39 front.   We roll to the back to where I birdie ten (the toughest hole on the back) to be -1 after the first hole on the back, +2 for the round.  Par eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen and fifteen - that was an in the zone moment.  Have to note that fourteen - the second par 3 on the back - I hit the tee shot just short right of the flag.  Easy pitch with the 56 should put me close for a tap in par.  It does not happen - as I duff the pitch to about 3yds closer.  I reset and this time I nip it nicely only to see it land and slowly roll to the cup and drop in for a chip-in par save ( a first).   We get to sixteen and I am thinking this could be a really good round.  It's also a par 5 and I hit a solid tee shot.  I'm about 220 from the center of the green and figure I can layup with the 3w as there is a nice landing area in front of the green and it would play nicely into the typical distance I hit this club.  I'm sitting about 50 yds from the flag to the right hand side.  I overcook the 56 and see the ball bounce off the back of the turtle green.  I hit an easy 56 again to see the ball roll to the other side of the green.  Long story it became a 3putt double.  Now I am +4 through sixteen.  The last two holes are solid pars - one an up and down, the other a GIR two putt. Finished the back 1 over at 37.  Total score is a 76!  A new personal best.  Best "all around" play through the bag to date.
