"They suddenly changed their story, and said the clubs were OEM (original equipment manufacturer) clubs, and that they were great clubs, and they do not accept them back. OEM clubs are not the same as the genuine article, and you have no way of knowing just what quality you have purchased. These clubs were very overpriced non genuine clubs."

If I were to guess, I assume they mean they are made at the same factory as the real thing. Not really OEM in my book, but I know selling illegal clubs out of the back door of the factories is common there. Performance wise, it is possible they're the same. However who know is you're really getting defect clubs.

Hi all,

Just got my bank on the phone, and there is no possibility to cancel that payment. What has to be done : wait for the goods to arrive, check whether they are fakes or not (with real proofs of this statement), and if they are, ask the bank to reimburse. It might work like this in France for visa premier owners.

I keep you posted onces the irons are delivered.

Cheers

Ignoring the protection using a credit card provides, in some countries there are laws regarding distance selling. Because you cannot actually inspect the item as you would in a store, you have a cooling off period where you can legally return the item no questions asked.

This is certainly the case in the UK, and I would think for other EU countries also.

Run Grasshopper....................run as fast as you can.

OEM is "as states" original equipment manufacturer". It may not be Callaway or TM but it is the OEM of the club you get (read between the lines). You are getting a copy...counterfeit.

Stop payment with your bank or credit card. This is illegal in all 50 states and will be enforced through the banks and credit cards.

So, here is an update.

The clubs are currently in customs, they ask for the invoice to pay the customs fees. I've had time to check the clubs in the box, they seem ok, with head covers and in plastic.
BUT: The originating company is a "latex and plastic" products one, and at the same adress, I've just noticed that there is a iron pipes and kit products factory...

Let's see when they'll be released from customs after paying the fees...

I'm a bit scared ...

If you don't pay the customs fees will they ship them back to the manufacturer? I received a set of fake Mizuno's that appeared real until I took a real good look at them. I was lucky that the guy that sold me them took them back and credited my PayPal account.

Good luck but I would seriously think about not paying the customs fees and get your money back.

Smile, it makes people wonder what you're up to...

Thanks, that would be an idea, but importing counterfeit good is strictly forbidden by law, thus I don't want to ask the customs officer if they would ship them back... Anyway, it's receiver's duty to pay the fees...

I just dont get ordering something as important and expensive as golf clubs off the internet. I understand looking for a "deal"....but I am willing to pay $100 more or so, to get them from a brick and mortar store that I can actually walk into if there is a problem, and where you are guaranteed to get genuine equipment. Unfortunately, you seem to ALWAYS "get what you pay for"....and I am willing ti pay the premium that a GolfSmith or GolfGalaxy type store charges, for some piece of mind. Goodluck, I hope you dont get fakes.

Thanks. I fully understand your above comment about the price I paid, but the thing is the price was about the same than in other online US shops, but shipment fees were a bit lower.
There was nothing that came up to my mind, no suspition, until I knew that they're being shipped from China.

I got my irons from Callaway Preowned website. Awesome place to buy from. They will adjust loft/lie at the time of sale. I don't think they even charged me for this, other than the cost of new grips. And condition was just what they said. Looked unused. I see the X-20 with graphite is about $650 on this site in "Like New" condition. If that is the clubs you want, I say go for it. Link below...

    • Day 445 - 2025-12-19 Hit some balls at AMGC today before getting on a flight and driving back to home through some not-so-awesome weather. The backswing is starting to feel pretty good. I have to clean up the knees a little.
    • Day 25: did my drill with foam balls in the garage for a good 20 minutes. Worked on my hands not being as deep.
    • I unknowingly ordered what would sort of be considered a staff bag. It is the 14 divider version of the Titleist staff bag and was stated on the website to be a staff bag "light" (Titleist Tour Premium Cart Stadry), but it is pretty big. Love it though.
    • Day 39 (19 Dec 25) - weekly men’s group shootout today - we had as a “fifth” in our foursome the course teaching pro.  With the solid winds playing havoc, it was great having him to offer insight and counsel on what to take into to account. Mind you, he did not recommend specific club but rather to what consider and how to plan.  What a great day for course management education at the next level.
