hi - i bought a Callaway FT -5 driver - 10 degree loft. I hit it really well but I am wondering about cutting down from a 45 inch shaft to a 44 1/2. I am 5'9. I called Callaway and they said it wouldn't hurt the club at all to do that and that it would only affect the swing weight - I guess if i didn't like it or it got messed up somehow I can always have a new shaft put in it. I looked at the specs of a lot of tour guys and many if not most don't play a driver with a 45 inch shaft so it seems silly that amatuers would- anyone here have any advice or thoughts on this issue??

In my bag:
Titleist 910D2 w/Diamana Kaali'Stiff
Titleist 910F w/ Diamana Kaali' Stiff
Titleist 910F Hybrid 19 degree w/ Diamana Kaali' Stiff

Titleist AP1 Irons - TT S300
Titleist Vokey SM 50, 54 & 58 - Titleist Scott Cameron Newport

Welcome to the good ol' world of Marketing BS.....

Manuf. come out w/ all these new drivers claiming we will gain 20-30yds. Of course we will gain length, if the shafts are 2.5-3" longer. Problem is the majority of us can't control a longer shafted driver. We pay big bucks for new equipment, then have to pay for lessons to learn how to hit it.

It all goes around and around......pretty clever isn't it

I have mine cut down to 44"...makes all the difference in the world
