Rock Barn Golf & Spa. Period.

They have two 18-hole courses there. One is a Robert T. Jones Jr design and the other is a Tom Jackson. Played them both and both are incredible. The Tom Jackson is the easier of the two and is quite hilly. The Jones course is pretty long and pretty damn tough. Well worth it if you can play them.

Driver: 905R 9.5*
3-wood: 906F 13*
Irons: Forged Blades
Wedges: Black Satin SV Tour 52* , 56*, 60*

I've heard of a place called Roan Valley I think? Supposed to be pretty nice, not sure how far from Hickory though. My parents have a place near Boone which is about an hour away, but all the courses I know around there are private.

In my bag:

Driver: SQ 9.5, Graphite Stiff Shaft

Springdale Golf Club. South of Waynesville about half an hour west of Asheville. Decent course with hilly terrain on the front nine. Known for it's relation to "Cold Mountain" of novel and movie fame. Has one of the toughest par 4's I've ever played. Not the best maintained course, but certain views are breathtaking.

      Day 51 (yesterday was 50, not 59 -- that was a typo).  I didn't have a ton of time today.  I hit a dozen balls with a 6-iron in my practice room.   Amazingly, after this I did the ShotScope analysis of yesterday's round;  my approach play was at the 5 hcp level.  That's pretty darn good, but unfortunately for my score, some of that came from hitting a few good recovery shots.  But I also hit some really good approach shots that weren't from trouble!

      Shot a 37 today! Palmer Course, PGA National. Really fun. 6/9 GIR, no lost balls. The double and the bogey were both three putts from like 35 feet or so.  The birdie at the last was really fun. I stood over that fifteen footer and thought wow I’m really about to make this, aren’t I? And I hearted it. Really fun. It’s like 9000 degrees outside but I battled through it well. Good times.

      I had been in a bit of a slump for the month of June. Handicap index has slowly risen, and there were few sub-80 scores. Today was a different story at Leslie Park GC. Lots of solid shots, GIR's, up & downs, for a 77 (7.8 differential). As with most rounds, there were a few loose shots and crappy putts, but it was a good day.
