i went golfing today and i lost 4 balls in the woods to the right...i always go right with my driver ONLY!! its the weirdest thing, my irons and even my woods(most of the time) are straight...but my driver is ALWAYS right, not the irons just the driver....

Anyone know what the problem could be?? i had my friend watch my swing, and he made me swing 3 times and he couldn't see anything wrong(a good good golfer by the way), then i shot the ball and it went...RIGHT!! its crazy, any ideas?????

he suggested making sure my shoulders stay parallel(not dipping into the shot) and swinging slow(thought i was overswinging)...but it didn't help.

thanks

I went and took a lesson and found out that while I thought they felt square, my shoulders were open at address. Just about fixed me right up.

Are you talking about a push or a slice?

Where in Houston do you play?

Do you come over the top? do you swing out to in? Does your right elbow stay close to your right side on your downswing?

I play in the Pasadena Deer Park area.

My feet and hips were lined up straight down the target line, but when I'd address the ball I'd open my shoulder line left of the target line. Basicly turning at the waist to my left to get the clubhead up to the ball. Now I try to focus on keeping my shoulders dead straight to the target line (if I put a club across my shoulders it would point at the target), but I drop my right shoulder down a little lower (which I should have been doing anyway) to get the club head up to the ball. That took my outside/in swing and made it come from the inside.

The other thing he had me work on was turning my wrists over sooner on the downswing. He said with my swing speed it was a little harder to get them turned back over in time.

I still can't manage to get a draw (not sure how much of a draw I can get with this square drier anyway), but I cut my slice down to a predictable fade I can play for.
This past Saturday was the first round I've played where the driver was the most comforable club in the bag.

You can ground your club where the ball lines up at the toe so you have to swing out to catch the ball in the middle of the clubface.

Another drill I learned was to put a tee in the ground a couple inches foward and to the right of the ball your hitting and swing to that tee everytime, I was pushing the ball for quiet awhile (not slicing it though) until my hands finally turned over and I was able to hit draws, pulls, and hooks for the first time ever(this was two years ago). It was a great filling to be able to hit draws.

I hit a slice when I get quick at the top due to hitting impulse. But when I am relaxed and allow the backswing to complete while smoothly pushing off my right foot, the driver drops down into the slot and the ball goes straight.

i think this could be true for me too...THX
