I sprained my left ankle a couple days ago so i couldnt really head out to the course. I started chipping in my yard puting all my wieght on my right foot and every ball i would hit with my lob wedge would go straight up an land about 5to25 yards out which is perfest for those little chips from of the green where you dont want to use a risky flop shot.

yeah... most instruction regarding chipping involves putting more weight on your front foot (usually left)... so unless you are a lefty, you are using a very unorthodox method.

yea I have always read this too. I always have all (or most) of my weight on my left foot when chipping around greens.

I believe it, I remember playing at the Ocean Club in the Bahamas (my avatar) and I was having issues with my chipping. The guy I was playing with told me to take my front foot out of my shot. I kept my body in the normal spot but had my foot way out to the side. It worked every time. I asked him how he knew this, he said his buddy figured it out, but had no idea why it worked.

I've had new issues with my chipping (see my thread), so I can't use this method, but it worked. You just have to keep every other part of your body in the swing as if your front foot was still in there.

    • I can see a point in this.  If you play a straigth 3 footer with a square face aiming at the hole, you can miss both ways, with a close face or an open one. If you aim rigth an close the face at impact (like tiger used to do), physically you can still miss left or rigth but mentally you are only missing left (closed face) and having only 1 miss can give you a boost in confidence. I putt this way on fade putts and aim left and open the face on draw putts, never liked the uncerteinty of putting square to the target.  I apply something like this on approach shots, only use low or high shots and for middle shots I use a low shot with more loft ot a high shot with less loft. This shots are always what they meat low or high, a middle one can go a little towards the high and the low depending on the AoA of each shot making it mentally a little more uncertain what is going to be.
    • Yeah, I'm not sure if he is genuine or not either but that's not why I'm giving him props.
    • I really liked this videos.    I wonder about how to effitiently apply force to the handle of the club on the downswing.  Me personally used to apply force to the grip in the direction off the ball. I had a very steep angle of attack with my hands to the ball.  After looking at this videos I started to apply force downwards in the beginning of the backswing and then towards the flag/target when I was about to hit the ball.  After looking at pro players, they all start to lift their hands before hitting the ball. I don't know if it is because of pushing with their left leg up or because they apply force upwards to the grip when they reach the ball, or something else?
    • I'm pro BDC because of his scientific approach to golf, but I don't think he is been genuine since he started youtube and had this goal to be liked by all.    Congrats to scotty, yes is boring to watch a major when only 1 player is in contention, but the man is crushing it, he is making it look easy despite playing against the elite of golf.
    • Sure, anything recent though (like in the last year or two) or are we sentencing him for life with no possibility of parole?
