I'm searching for some used wedges, and I've run across a couple of reasonably priced mizuno wedges, but I've never hit one before and I don't know what they're like.
1. What are the differences between the MP, MP-R, and MP-T models?
2. What is wrong with this wedge? http://www.globalgolf.com/product/go...=3&dxt;=2&cdt;=1
3. That wedge from number 2 seems to have a normal sole, but I thought there was something special about the soles of Mizuno wedges?
4. Which of the three (MP, MP-R, MP-T) should I get?

I have both the MP R and MP T. I have a 51* MP T Gap Wedge. I've only been using it, recently. I like it more than the Taylor Made I was using and the ball seems to stop on a dime. It came with a Uniflex shaft that I have not changed.

The MP R wedges, are a 54 and 58, both with 10 degrees of bounce. Both have Project X 7.0 Shafts. While they are pretty solid and provide good control, I like my Cleveland wedges, more. I'm going to have them extended, if possible and see if my opinion differs.

Just to show you that everybody is unique, I prefer my 52 and 56 degree Mizuno MR wedges over my Cleveland 60 deg. wedge. I feel that my distance and trajectory control is better than ever and I love they way the MR's chip and pitch. I'm thinking of replacing my Cleveland with another MR. But that's just me.

1. The main difference between the MP v. the MP-R and MP-T (2008 edition) series is the C grind sole. The difference between the MP-R and MP-T is the shape, round v. teardrop.

2. I don't know... it may be just and rusted but I suspect that it may be the raw haze version? 3. C grind sole. that edition looks like the 2007 edition of the MP-T. the 2008 edition has the C grind sole, the previous ones do not. You can tell if it's the 2008 edition from the sole as well as the dead give away of the new mizuno logo on the sole as well. 4. I happen to like the MP-T for it's shape. The R is also nice. I think it really depends on what shape you like and if the C-grind sole is worth it to you... Also, I am thinking of getting a new set of the MP-Ts (with the Spinner Shaft) - maybe I will sell you mine? Let me know if interested. They got banged up a bit but I just used them for only 6 rounds this year plus the range.

Wannabe Paper Tiger is dead on with his post.

I'll compare the Mizuno wedges to Cleveland and Titleist Vokeys.

Spin (Most to least): Vokey, Cleveland, Mizuno
Clubface Feel (Softest to hardest): Mizuno, Cleveland, Vokey

When I first got my Mizuno wedges brand new, the spin was excellent. As time went on and I can see visible wear on the finish of the club face, I didn't get as much spin. When Mizuno comes out with their own version of a Spin Milled and Zip Groove technology, it would, without a doubt, make them the best wedges on the market. Until then, the 3 major wedge makers have their own unique qualities.
