Long irons should be hybrids?

There is one thing you cannot deny: Nothing beats the feeling of a solidly struck three iron that is tracking the pin.

I completely agree with this. I was 210 out yesterday uphill and knew that pulling a hybrid would be too long unless i controlled it right..but I could swing away with a 3 iron...... 7 feet away from the cup for bird.

I also agree with the fact that it doesn't have to be one or the other. I love my 3 iron..but for longer shots that I need to land softer, I'll move to a 3 hybrid. But, I did just pick up a 2 hybrid from tour edge b/c I definitely don't think keeping a 2 iron in the bag is the right thing for me.

I personally am about a 15 handicap and I play a 3 and 4 hybrid. I can hit a 3 or 4 iron nearly as well, but I feel more comfortable that I am going to get the ball up and straight with my hybrid, than I would with a low iron. It's personal preference, but for any new golfer or one with a high handicap I would recommend hybrids.
