I was at the range th other day and was hitting it ok for me. I've been working all winter on a sort of Tony Finau swing as I tend to overswing badly. Tried out a weak grip for whatever reason and all of a sudden start striping the ball throughout my bag. Anyone else go to a weak grip with success? I've read a weaker grip can help a player with slower hips which is me for sure. Appreciate any feedback.

I don't teach many with what I would call a "weak" grip, and I'd be curious to know if it lasts.

Did you record your swings before and after?

I did yes but delete after I'm done usually. I'll have to record a before and after next time and get it on here. Everything from how the club felt in my hands to how I was hitting the ball felt so much better.

The point would be to see what actually changed, if anything, except for your perception.

Point well taken. I get the feel isn't real piece and the million aha moments golfers have that turn into nothing. It helped and I'll continue to explore it. I'll look to get some video up so those with much more knowledge can have at it.

If it helps, it helps, but my main point is that you should keep before/after stuff to see what actually changed. Whether you choose to show that to us or not… doesn't matter too much, in the end. But at least you can start to look at "real."

I suppose it's always possible your "old" grip was "too strong".

I once played with a guy who was right handed and could not only see all 4 knuckles on his left hand, but I'm pretty sure his grip was so strong he could see all four knuckles on his right hand as well. It was almost like he was doing a wrist curl with his right hand and a reverse wrist curl with his left. ... Strongest golf grip I've ever seen.... BTW - Probably no shock to anyone that he fought a snap hook.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.
