Hi all,

I’ve recently got back into golf. I used to play when I was around 12-14 and played off a 36 handicap and my brother is currently pretty good playing off around 5. So I’m not a complete beginner and have some good help as well, I can strike the ball well however sometimes suffer with a miss hit etc.

im now looking for some clubs under £200 second hand and I’ve seen a 5-pw Taylormade r9 tp for around 150 and I just wondered if these would suit me? Looking to get some nice irons with forgiveness but also a bit of playability as well.

Hello and welcome to TST! Honestly, clubs are ultimately pretty darn personal preference. We all recommend at least hitting clubs prior to purchase to get a feel for any likes/dislikes.
As far as quality, playability goes, there’s really no reason these clubs won’t suffice for you as long as you like them. Obviously trying to play with muscle back/blade irons could pose some more difficulty, but any clubs made in the past 10-15 years will suffice for you, as long as you like them.

By like, I mean you may not like the look, the sound, etc. Otherwise, enjoy yourself and come back here for some excellent swing tips! Cheers!

Thanks man! Yh true but I don’t feel like I need the massive cavity backs! I’ve also found a pair of Taylormade 2009 burner tour? Do you know much about them and how they compare?

  • iacas changed the title to TaylorMade R9 TP

I’ve certainly heard good things about the Burner series….
