I play with maxfli a10 blades right now and do OK with them, would a good set of cavity back clubs help me or should I just keep with what I have now.I have about a 10 to 15 handicap depending on where I play. What I have noticed is the people I play with all use them and even if they dont make good contact it still is better than mine with the same bad contact

I would recommend a good set of cavity backs, they deliver you some good forgivness and will definatly feel better of the clubface.

Go try some sets out and see what you like.

Everyone is buzzing about the new titleist Ap2/Ap1 give those a shot too

That depends on how you strike your irons. Are you all over the clubface and the blade nature is hurting? If so, yeah, cavity backs can help. Do you strike them well and really shape your shots? Then no, cavity backs won't likely help.

Although playing with blades can up your game a little, learning with harder clubs sure does help you improve, Cavitys are so much easier to hit, and may also help your swing as far as distance goes.

No I never shape shot just staight away well most of the time, where I noticed a huge difference is when I hit a ball really fat because of a side hill lie or just a screw up it does not go any where and seems like the more mass of the cavity back will do better even if it is hit fat, straighter and a little farther. It may just be me

if you are having frequent mishits and arent getting distance even on the mishits with blades, definatly look into cavitys. On mishits you can get the distance you want, and the accuracy may turn out well.

I agree with you Dent, but always looking to improve and shave strokes is why I am asking about the cavity backs.Would you give up blades for cavity backs, just dont want to regret my chose

that is a tough choice, but i find keeping the blades is more of a sacrifice than switching to cavitys, they will definatly help your game more than the blades do.

There are still a lot of cavity back clubs that are more blade in appearance; look for something like that IMO. I went from Ping G2's (after being out of golf for a quite a while, I wanted game improvement) and last fall felt confident in going to a smaller, less offset club, and bought the i10's. I am very happy with the switch. Still some forgiveness but better control of them.

I have been looking at a set of Taylor made 320's that are on here in the marketplace, does anyone have a opinion on these or should I look else were

Im not sure how old those are, but I'm sure you can find better technology for real cheap. It depends how much you are willing to spend. How much are you willing?

the TaylorMade R7's are good cavity back irons, there are about 4 different versions, I selected the TP's as I have been playing for over 20 years, the drawback is that they are expensive, but the are forgiving on mishits.

Good luck...hit'em straight!

    • Day 37: did my drill swings in the garage with foam balls for about 15 minutes. Working on getting my backswing more turned and then going from there.
    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
    • Day 12 - 2025-12-31 Limited time today, and heavy rains here. 5-10 minutes of mirror work for full swing, working on trail side.
