If you own a Stack radar (for now, it's limited to Stack radar only), and want to work on your wedge game… it turns out that wedge distances are 99% correlated to ball speed. So, with a small radar, you can practice your wedge game easily in a gamified way.

I have one and look forward to trying this. I bought the Stack Radar and developed pretty severe tennis elbow, likely from a new workout program, prior to receiving it, and have not used it very much. Asa competitive person, I respond well to gamifying practice. That’s why I also love using the Stack putting app. Two great incremental benefits of the program.

This is pretty interesting. I don't have a Stack radar so I can't use the app, but given what they say it should be fairly easy to come up with some kind of proxy to it if I spend an hour with a trackman. Just note what ball speed gives what distances and plot it. It's presumably not directly linear, but if you hit 50 shots between 30 and 100 yards, you'll have enough to pin down most yardages in that window (yards vs ball speed). Then rather than trying to match distances, just try to match ball speeds with whatever radar you do have. The whole strokes gained thing would be more difficult, but that's not really necessary to work on it. Or just buy a Stack radar...

I was messing around with Flightscope Trajectory Optimizer.

Yea, if spin rate stays with in normal ranges (don't hit a 2000 rpm spin rate PW 140 yards, lol). Spin rate doesn't matter much for carry distance. Except obviously hitting into a pretty solid head or tailwind.

Yeah, Dr. MacKenzie will tell you that ball speed is a 98% predictor for carry yardage.

I love this on my old swing caddie SC200. There's a match mode where it'll give you a random distance between 40 and 100 yards. I haven't done it in a little while but I dialed in my wedges over the last couple years just getting the distances for "1/2" and "3/4" feel shots with all my wedges, and then I'd play that game with different wedges. Super fun and has definitely improved my game in the 60-100 yard range.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
