So a good thing happened to me today on the course. I borrowed a lob wedge from my dad's bag today and went out to play 18. I started the day thinking it would be cool to use it and then I started thinking that I am not good enough to hit this club since I often have trouble getting under the ball. So I did not take the thing out the the bag for the first 17 holes but then I was in the perfect spot to use the club so I said what the hell. Pull it out and hit it at about 80% power and lofted the ball nicely up and down within 3ft of the pin it rolled away from the hole but for someone like me that just felt amazing. I then figured, as I was walking off the course, there was no chance of me hitting it well again. When I got home I took it out and dropped a couple of balls in the side yard. I targeted my flag pole a took a couple of swings I was dead on so I set the balls up again and right at it again. 9 out of the 10 balls I hit were where I wanted them to go this means that my dad is not getting his club back. But this should be ok since he does not golf anymore.

Great to hear that you can hit it. I remember thinking the same thing even at my handicap.

Its some sort of accomplishment. Its a hard club to judge the power to swing at, but once you get it right, its a great club for getting over obstacles and such.

It's a useful club, but some amateur's shouldn't have it in their bag. Once you reach a certain level, it's a weapon.

Ah....the beloved lob wedge....a club that can make you look like a genius or one that can cause anguish and grief.

My father uses one to great effect. He makes it look so effortless when he stiffs 'em tight.

I have to remember to take no more than a nine o'clock to three o'clock swing with mine. It's a finesse club and I sometimes tend to forget that.

I totally agree that is exactly what I was thinking at the beginning of the course and I realize that I wont hit it good every time and that it will not replace my other wedges in my bag just nice to feel confident in a club for once.
