Well, so much for my PGA Preview for the Funai Classic. I was hoping for a Vijay/Tiger battle on the weekend. It looks like neither will be around because they both missed the cut!

That is Tiger's second of the year. That is unheard of. I'm sure the $10 million he has won will help the pain, however.

But hey, Charles Howell III finished fifth last week and is in a tie for 10th this time around. Let's just hope they get in as much golf as possible before the Hurricane arrives. And even then, let's hope the Hurricane has weakened a lot for the benefit of Florida.

What are your thoughts on Tiger's second missed cut of 2005? He missed it by a few shots too.

I think he pressed at the end to make a lot of birdies and made instead some bogeys. Tough to say...

Tiger has repeatedly said he doesn't like playing in events where the winning score is like -24 (as Funai may be). He prefers making birdies on tough holes and winning at -11 or -8 or so. Easier for him to hide a few weird mistakes here and there, too, since he makes so many birdies. He also makes a lot of bogeys for the best golfer in the world. Odd that 67% of Tiger's MCs have come in what is arguably his best year on Tour - top 4 in every major, winning two and four other tournaments, etc. Sure he didn't win as many as his previous best year, but this goes right up there, I think. Perhaps he was distracted by having his buddies over.

I did not see any of the Funai Classic. I heard that Tiger had a different caddie...is this true? Is this permanent? Thanks Brandi

Naw, Stevie is taking some time off for his girlfriend/fiancee/wife or whatever. He'll be back on the bag in no time.

Nothing but highly researched and solid facts here at The Sand Trap.
