Now that I've played quite a few rounds with the Monza Spider I can report that it is a fabulous putter, it wasn't just 'new putter syndrome' of increased focus that leads to temporary results, this putter really is top notch.

Had a lot of comments and questions about it on the course, and several of the better players have asked to try it out and were very impressed. One commented that I sold him on it after draining several long putts in a row.

The truth is that it has increased my desire to play golf because I have so much confidence on the green now, and this carrys over to chipping and wedge play as I know if I get it close I'm going to make the putt more often than not, so it has changed my game more than I expected, and will probably lower my handicap by several strokes due to this 'trickle-down' effect.

I bought a Spider... I have always had a pretty good short game... that was the only saving grace to my round, but the Spider is worth it's weight in gold. I had a more traditional TaylorMade Sebring and loved it. I never had a reason to change until I tried the Spider.

The one thing I can say about this putter vs a more traditional one is the consistancy on long putts. I couldnt get a bounce out of this thing... always a sweet roll. The markings on the back definately help smooth your swing and keep it online. Well worth the investment.

Certainly, this high-MOI putters help, but for me putting is :

- 30% technical : fitting, decent mechanics, practicing and green reading

- 70% mental and experience

To excel, add another 10% of confidence

All great putters in history have achieved success with differents putters (blade, mallet) and styles (straight, arc, pop), so those are not the keys...

I play a White Hot XG #7.
I said for many years, "a putter is a putter".
Last year I bought this one, and I could not live without it. It has taken 2-4 strokes off my score per round. To me, It is a feel and confidence thing.

I just upgraded to an Odyssey Sabertooth, from a Odyssey dual force 992 that was about 10 years old. I know the sabertooth looks crazy but it just feels so great to me and has improved my putting game

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
