Which one did you have? (they make loads of tasty smokes)

It was the Classic Churchill - 7 1/2 x 52. I've had the Prime Minister, Corona, and the Majesty, but have always preferred the Churchill, with the Corona a close second.

It seems I have the itch again after the teaser last week, but will have to expand my vocabulary and try some of the others in this thread. There are probably 10-12 guys at my club that smoke while golfing, and the aroma finally got to me.

After hearing about Ashton's on here, I decided to pull a VSG out of the Humi for todays round. It was fabulous just as expected. It is going to have to go in the rotation.

I've got 4 humis (various sizes and materials) aging 10 different smokes - from Cuban Monty #2's (sadly one left that has been aging for over 10 years ), to various Carlos Toranos (Signature, Exodus Silver), CAOs(Brazilia, Cameroon, Gold), Padrons (#4000 and #6000), Rocky Patels ('92 and '94), Puros Indios (#2, Broncos),...

I don't smoke many (average

I am far from a cigar aficionado, but I had an Ashton Churchill last week after a year layoff, and I forgot how much I liked it.

By Vegas do you mean 5 Vegas (pronounced Cinco Vegas)? THey are great mild sticks. If you like the mild stuff, here are a few to try out if you want to.

Hmm, I think so, but not certain. It was a mild, nice smoke'n and moderately priced cigar. My absolute favorites right now are Romeo & Juilet Reserva in a Churchill. IMO the R & J's have the best flavor and smoke the best, but aren't moderately priced.

Thank you very much for the recommendations, I'll try 'em.

Me too... but I golf every day!

LOL. 2-3 times per week for me, but I'm not retired........yet

May your shots be striaght and your cigars burn well.

New Havana is having a pretty good deal today. Its just to bad they dont have any of the exclusivo's. Any other recomendations from that list.

From the Email:

Pete is in town and he brought swag! We will be doing an 'Online Event' - today only. Can't go wrong with any of the Tat's. The LaRiqueza's are pretty darned decent too. (I've not had nearly as many La Riqueza cigars)

For the Tat's, I definitely prefer the brown label, in a ~6" x 45-50 ring gauge (Regios size, 5-1/2" x 50. The Noellas size is very popular, because it is near a traditional Cuban cigar size)

The Cabaiguan isn't my favorite, but it is a decent stick, for a little less cash than the others.

BTW - that's a very cool deal that they're offering, if you can swing the cost of a box, that's a lot of cool stuff to get for FREE, and the Black Labels, you can only get from Pete at an event, so this is a very rare opportunity to lay hands on them.

First of all let me say that if this is too off topic, let me know and I'll start a new thread. My sister is getting married in October and all of the guys are having a golf outing that weekend. I would like to get some cigars for us all to enjoy while we play. I'm not much of a cigar smoker so I thought I'd ask for some advice from the more seasoned smokers out there. I am looking for a mild to medium cigar (we are playing in the early morning) that I can get 15-20 of for approx. $50. Any reccomendations for me to look into? Thanks, I appreciate your help.

Hang tight. I'll toss something out at ya this evening, IT blocked tobacco sites this week... We're going to have a talk about that.

If you can bump up your budget another $30-$40 for a box of 20 you could have ton of great options, like the mild ones TheBirdieman recomended a page or two ago.

Hee hee, maybe.

Interestingly, BOTL wasn't cut out, just the vendors. Here ya go, cheap cigars that don't suck: http://www.jrcigars.com/index.cfm?pa...rand=CONSUEGRA Stick with the natural, the maduro isn't quite as smooth. http://www.jrcigars.com/index.cfm?pa...itemcode=JRAFS These are a awfully darn good alternative (clone?) of the Arturo Fuente Hemingway. I've had them a number of times, and continue to order them when I can. http://www.jrcigars.com/index.cfm?pa...temcode=JRUPSW I've had the real deal *wink, wink, but I've been told from a couple of buddies that these aren't bad either, and the price sure is right. http://www.holts.com/category.html?i...83&trail;=86665 If you can come up with a little more scratch, these are pretty darned decent. They're a Don Pepin cigar (a little bolder, but very well made) Hope this helps, and have fun at your golf outing!!!

Shopping at Holts is great. Shopping at JR Cigars has left me nothing but problems. And their selection is limited now (IMHO).

I gave in and just bought a new humidor today. I had filled up the four 100 counts that I had, so decided to go big for my home office. Here is what I ordered. They tell me it holds 1500, but realistically 1200. That should be fine...lol.

Wow playa, that's a nice one. If you're like me it will bother you to see it half full

    • I know you guys were discussing this like a year ago. But, ironically I just had this discussion with my brother-in-law. We literally just did one of these. I'd always used the "Slow-Cook, Rest, and Sear" Method. But my bother-in-law was convinced the "5-Min/lb, 500 degree" method was the way. So, we gave it a go. I have to say it came out great.  I have a 25 year old, electric oven, GE brand... Not sure if that matters, but it came out great. ... Of course we stressed that nobody was to open the oven.   I don't make these all that often so, I'm not sure if I can fully recommend one method or the other, because without doing a Pepsi Challenge, I'd say both ways come out great. 👍😁👍
