I'm a fan of odyssey. Their blade putters have a great feel and their mallets(such as 2 ball and sabertooth) are easy to line up and the extra weight at the bottom helps make a smoother swing. Im ordering the sabertooth in about a week.

all different beasts...

cameron is really a great feeling putter with some nice weight and a balanced feel, but has hefty price tag at 300

personally I dont believe Odysseys are in the same category as a cameron, even their tour edition (which I believe is priced at 350)

Bettinardi is a specialist club but dont be fooled by the mizuno and ben hogan lines, these really arent bettinardi clubs - bettinardi studio and handmade putters go for some serious cash (around 500-700) for a standard model and protos can go for a lot more

Id say that the fact that a lot of pros who arent even sponsored by Titleist used Scotty Cameron putters tells you how good SC putters are.
I find it very interesting that Tiger has his big Nike contract, yet he still uses a Scotty Cameron and has said that he isnt likely to ever switch to anything else.
I cant imagine that Nike is happy about that...

I have about a dozen putters and the one that I always go back too is the Scotty Cameron Newport 2. My second favorite is the 2 ball putter.

The build quality the weight and feel of the putter, I have played my best rounds of golf with this putter.

I bought my used on ebay about 2 years ago for around $150.

^^^ What they said.
Love my new Circa 62, but I imagine for the $ difference I would have gone with the Mizuno Betti if they would of had my length.
Ody, nice, but again, just a way different feel. Sure a new Mustang is killer, but hop in an old 60's and you KNOW the difference. Sorta.

I haven't hit an SC yet, but from what I've heard they're great. (Maybe it's better I didn't- $350 or whatever they are retailing at is kind of steep for me right now)

As for my own personal experience- I switched to an Odyssey White Hot XG Sabertooth and it's done wonders for my putting. I three putt a lot less often. It's not unheard of (and is actually pretty common) for me to go a round with one or two of them- and for me that is amazing. I love the feel of it; the soft insert is really what had me checking them out. As for the design being to distracting or 'gimmicky' I really do like it. It's unique and its been dubbed the "batman" putter by a few friends. When I was shopping for putters I hit all the Taylormade, Ping, Nike, and Odyssey putters I could find. The insert and the weight of the sabertooth sold me on it. Although the AGSI insert was pretty cool on the TM's, I just found them to be too firm for my liking. The Ping Crazee (I think was the model, but I'm not sure) was ok, nothing special. The Nike (OSS or OS i think) actually almost had me sold, but I didn't like the center shaft too much and it was still kind of firm.

Sorry for the cliche, but the best putter IMO is the one that works best for you .

Good luck.

I agree with you on that one. Camerons are nice, but for the average weekend golfer, thats a lot of money.

I think if I were in the market for a new putter, Id have to give Nike a serious look. They cost 1/3 of what a Cameron costs and I doubt that Im a good enough player to where I notice the difference. For now though, I love my Bulls-Eye and I dont see myself replacing that club any time soon.

Yes! putters. If you're comfortable with one, their putter-head performance is beyond all others with their ball-roll, feel, and patents. I putted with mine for the first time today, and it was night and day from my 2-ball white hot.

Actually the Mizuno C and the Mizuno BC series are designed by and milled to Bettinardi's specifications. On the other hand, they are mass produced (bringing the price way down) and much less customizable than true Bettinardi Shop offerings.

But either way, the Mizuno Bettinardi line putters are in no way "cheap" putters.

My advice to you?

Putt with all the putters, from whatever manufacturer, that you are drawn to, and make your decision based on which one you like the most. What else can we tell you?

If I must answer your question, I think the Mizunos are better than Scottys but that's just my lonesome opinion and should be totally meaningless to you.

They are all good, and if you like the feel of all of them, then go with the one that you like the look/style of.

Odyssey and Camerons are all over the place, but Bettinardis are pretty unique as of now. I say go with the Bettinardi, you'll be the only kid on the block with that blade.

I use a Cameron, I love it, I have had it for 10 years. This past spring, I sent it back to the shop to have it freshened up (a nice feature that Scotty offers). The restoration takes about 2 months, and I used an Odyssey 2 Ball during that span. I really liked the 2 Ball, I putted well with it, but I was happy to have my Cameron back. The Odyssey was a nice putter, the Cameron is something I plan on keeping forever, if that makes any sense.

Agreed. To me, putting is about more mental than anything else. Sure technology helps, like it does with anything. I went with the one that felt the best. In turn that gave me confidence. I chose the Odyssey White Hot #7.

You opened a whole bag of worms here...

Ultimately it is up to what you like and what gets the ball in the hole for you. I used to have an odyssey 3 ball srt, and it worked, but I couldn't get over the feeling of putting with a waffle iron. I now have a SC Newport that I have cut down to 33". I like it but have been thinking of adding some lead tape to increase the swingweight.

Go to puttertalk or cameron collector to learn more, but be forwarned that there is a lot out there and you get get overwhelmend when you start learning about toe hang, swing weights, counter-balancing, balance and the like. Have fun with it, demo a few putters and pick one you like that works.

Good luck!

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
