The Mizuno 32's are the most forgiving blade you will ever hit. They are simply great irons.

Before jumping into an $800 set of blade style irons that may or may not serve you well, you may want to spend $100-150 on a set of Titleist 962s or 990s.
They are cast, have little offset, are moderately forgiving, and are very workable. Trajectory is medium with an s300 shaft.
I play Srixon 701 tours but still, on days when I need to humble myself, pull out my 990b irons so I can have an accurate read on my swing.
If you're a mid to higher handicap, the blade style irons may give a bit of trouble in the 2,3,4 irons but as others have said here, they will force you to become a more consistent ball striker.

There was an article in a recent Golf Digest article that compared shot distance and dispersion between "players clubs", "Game Improvement", and "Super Game Improvement" clubs. Of course, the Super Game Improvement clubs had better distance and dispersion rates but that would be expected since the heads are bigger than a pie pan and the lofts are juiced.
Too much help takes the fun out of the game...for me anyway. The mizunos sound interesting. Are they as consistent as Titleist, or Srixon?

i was on the range demoing irons and i hit my hibores the nike forged baldes and the r7 irons(the non tp version) side by side my hibores were the logest but had the wort feel the r7s had about an equal distanse ti my hiboses with incresed wirk ability and feel and lastly the nike forged blades felt like butter on every shot (i was consistantly hitting on the sweet spot) but they were still 10 yards behind the hibores and r7s. i think i am going to get the r7s but i still havent tried the x20tours which i am going to do tomorw.

If I recall, Wilson Staffs had a sweet spot about the size of a pea. That, coupled with the S shaft that had the flex of a 2x4, made it a true players club. 4-P was okay, but 2 and 3 were brutal. Reminiscent of the Hogan Apex.

blade style irons, huh?

I won't recommend the CG1 Black Pearls unless you're an extremely good ball striker. I'm doing myself a disservice by playing them, actually.

Check out one of these three sets :

Titleist AP2
Cobra CB's
Mizuno MP-57

Forgiving blades? That's an oxymoron if i have ever heard one. I own MP-32's and although I love them and won't change anytime soon, they are NOT in any way forgiving.

well i was on a launch moniter today and decided to just get normal cavity back irons not blade because a blade 6 iron when hit clean was going 145 carry and a cobra fp when hit anywhere on face was going 160 straight with 1500 more rpms of spin

Alot of Higher handicaps use blades. Like people say, its a club that can be grown into as your handicap drops, and it teaches you to be a better ballstriker, maybe that is what he is aiming for. Of course he may have some trouble at first, but he can grow into them.

I really agree with this. If you are looking for feedback and are willing to accept some. Then blades are for you. And I believe that by using blades you will become a better ball striker. When I posted that though. I was under the assumption that he was a fourteen handicap and that it would just take alot of adjustment. Thats why I recommended some transition stuff. Clubs that had a good amount of shot shaping capability and still a nice amount of forgiveness so that it won't kill your hands. I hate it when i hit mine so bad that it feels like the club just broke in my hand.

Just buy the MP33's

They are easy blades to hit and will make you a better iron player. Ebay for under $300 depending on the condition.

I have shot under par twice and cut my handicap by 5 after playing the MP33s.

I have a set of Ping eye 2s but the MP33 just feel so much better in my hands.

I had a set of mp30 with rifle 5.5 shafts and they felt heavier in my hands compared to the MP33 with dynamic golf shafts.

Try any clubs you are going to buy on the driving range, launch monitor and golf store.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
