I've been teaching junior golf for the past few weeks at Doral Arrowwood and i noticed today that one of my 8 year old students has a 7/8 iron.

What a genius idea!

Why not apply this concept to adult clubs as well?

Hybrids, interchangeable heads...everybody wants something new right? And a lot of players don't like playing 3 or 4 irons, right? So, instead of carrying both or getting a hybrid to replace them, why not combine them both into one club and call it a 3/4 iron?!

If the 3 is 21º and the 4 is 24º, make a 3/4 iron that's 22.5º. I gurantee it will sell. It's my idea, don't steal it just comment on it!

If someone can't hit a 3 or 4 iron, what makes you think they can hit a 3/4 iron?

I guess my only question would be, what would the benefit be other than opening up more room in the bag for another club?

I think it's a great idea. So do some professionals. A handful of players - I think Jim Furyk is one such player - have a weak 3-iron or strong 4-iron instead of a 3 & 4 iron. This makes room for 4 wedges. As my distance increases, I might be tempted to do the same.

Driver:  Titleist 915D2.  4-wood:  Titleist 917F2.  Titleist TS2 19 degree hybrid.  Another hybrid in here too.  Irons 5-U, Ping G400.  Wedges negotiable (currently 54 degree Cleveland, 58 degree Titleist) Edel putter.

Check my club specs. I don't need less than 5 or 6* at the top of the set. Not only do those clubs go closer to the same distance, but how many times do you need a 195 and not a 190 yard shot? It's only an issue if you hit it dead solid perfect everytime anyway. Most amateurs just do not/will not get this. My 4 hybrid, and most 4 hybrids, are basically a 3/4 iron. You get a 4 iron loft and about a 2 iron shaft.
