I was just wondering what are the best Titleist irons. I hit a 695 cb and i loved them. Right now I am hitting Ping i10. What does everyone think about these irons?

I own and use the 695 CB's and I love them. Everyone's saying that the new AP1 and AP2's are also great so you might want to try those.

Im partial to the DCI 981s, but its not as if any Titleist irons are bad. Ive heard great things about all of the new Titleist irons, but Im not sure that its worth spending the money for new ones when you could buy used irons that would probably work just as well and spend a lot less money.
Ive been watching quite a few sets on Ebay and they all go for $100-150. You just gotta be careful who you buy from. Make sure its a reputable seller who has at least a 99% rating and is a, "power seller".

Ive been playing my 690.MB forged blades for 4 years and they are in my opinion, still the best irons Titleist ever made. It's what Nike set out to exactly duplicate for Tiger(which he wanted). Honestly though, Titleist duplicated the original Mizuno Mp33 so the three sets are actually almost identical...

put it to you this way, after they discontinued the model 690.MB I bought another brand new set that has been stored in my basement for years, so I know I will always get to use this exact model, even when my current set is worn out many years down the road.

Titleist irons are starting to stray and look very much like all the other manufacturers..gimicky...with big fat top lines....which is disappointing. Bottom line though, is truly how they perform. and these are perfect for me.

the new titleist AP's aren't that unattractive...i don't get that.

they may not be what the "standard" iron is in appearance but golf has to move forward and these clubs are a natural progression for club technology in the game.

but some people care about the "standard" looks. i don't really like the look of my irons but i'm not close to being good enough to play blades.

I figure Titleist's best irons are their Forged 660's...although alot of their forged clubs are good.

I think a lot of people like the looks of blades but still want a club that is very forgiving.

Personally, I think my Knight irons are ugly too, but as long as they hit shots that look go and make the ball go where I want, I couldnt care less what they look like. I'll take pretty scores over pretty clubs any day. Id personally love to have a set of forged blades, but with the way my swing comes and goes (some days I am dead-on accurate with my irons and can make the ball take 2 hops and stop, other days I could hit a decent iron shot if my life depended on it), I want something that is forgiving.

As for best new... I'm really like the AP line. I wish I could hit the AP2's consistently cause I like the thinner line and smaller head, but got the AP1's cause they are the club for me. I really love them. Pure shots feel unbelievable.

I love the 695 cb's
They were the first Players club that I fell in love with.
But I would have to agree with b-squared. The 660's are like magic.

AP2's are the best thing I have seen come from Titleist for some time! We have 4 sets on back order. They can't get them out the door! (Plus True Temper had about 10,000 shafts fail expection!!!)

I have the 695MB's and they look stunning, cant hit them so they stay in my "for when i get good enough" bag. I'll stick to my Wilson Staffs for now

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
