Most reasons as to why A LOT of people don't like the TM's is because they are now LONGER then everyone else. No, I am NOT talking about yards, I am talking about inches. Most clubs are fairly standard across the board, however TM goes about 3/4 inches LONGER then everyone. Sure, you might hit 1 out of 5 HUUUUUGE, but I don't like those odds. Most amatuers SHOULD have a shorter driver. TM and some companies are now outside 46 inches with the driver. THAT is stupid for most!

I couldn't agree with you more. The SUMO I have is actually kind of short, really short actually- at least when compared to the Cleveland and the TM's I was demoing at the same time. When I took it home to compare it to my old 3 iron it was almost exactly identical in length.

Correct! Common misconception when it comes to hybrids. Wish more people would look into this!

Length kills! When it comes to club length that is.

I play a Srixon AD 18* 3h as a 5 wood replacement. I coudln't be happier with it. Pretty forgiving and give the workability that my handicap will allow me to use. I primarily use mine off the tee when I need 230-240 but can hit 200 yard knockdowns from the fairway and use it out of the rough on long shots.

If you want your shots long and straight, try the Adams. I have A3OS 3, 4, 5 hybrids and, basically, if I hit the ball with them, the ball goes long and straight...no fade, draw, hook, slice...nothing but straight.

One day I may want to curve a ball around a tree but for now, the ball goes exactly where I aim it and that's a very good thing.

Good luck in your quest.

I got the Ping G10 purely on the basis that I had the G10 driver and 3 wood which were working very well for me with the Grafalloy ProLaunch Red shaft. I'm not a huge fan of hybrids in the first place but having taken a break from the game, having one does make my life easier from 200+ yards.

The G10 hybrid is fine by me.

I personally am getting a nickent 4DX ironwood, because i haven't been able to find ONE bad thing about them.

However in terms of what i have hit.

G10 - I have not hit anything that went striaghter and was easier to hit than this club. It was a 3h at a ping demo day. My grandpa has a rapture hybrid which is essentially the same and it is so easy to hit and it just flies every time.

I have a 19 degree sonartec md, which they call a 2 iron hybrird

its short and feels great in my hands because I'm only 5'8

its a nice club but in terms of yardage is a tough club in my bag, if I hit it full it carries 215-220 so I only find myself using it on long par 3's and off the tee on short par 4's

I never find myself in the fairway needing this club

I'm looking to pick up some new hybrids around the holidays, either some cheap 585's or the new 509

I'll also be making the shaft plunge this year, probably Accra... in all my woods (here we go again with the money, damn)

Bridgestone gc hybrids work best for me. Look good at address, very forgiving and you can work them. Best out of the rough, for me. I'd give them a look.... jmoc

I play the Cleveland Hybore steel shaft with 25 degree loft to replace the 4 iron because I won it at a golf tournment, I like it very much. I also played with a Taylor Made Dual hybrid 18 degree with moveable weights and like that club also.

I don't think you can go wrong with most hybrids. hit them all and see which feels, looks and gives you the best results for your game.

    • Day 2: August 12.  I did 25 balls of the ruler drill from LSW for putting.  24 of the 25 stayed on the ruler through 36" but some were smoother than others.  I suspect if the ruler (and goal) had been 48" far fewer would have stayed on.  I'm trying to go by sound, and not look, since when I attempt short putts, I don't want to look (although now I wonder if that's conventional wisdom that turns out to be wrong).
    • Day 17: did mirror work while watching TV. Working on wrist feels.
    • Day 315 - 2025-08-12 Got a little work in before Juniors showed up for one of their Summer Sessions.
    • I always knew it as high but never that distance was 90-95% of rating! That has always played to my advantage. I never have but I could totally vanity cap myself by playing **super** long courses that are otherwise super easy. There was one course like that in LA that I used to play that helped my cap like that. The back tees were close to 7k yards, but otherwise the course was incredibly easy. Wide open, misses almost always had a play at the green from the adjacent hole, flat greens, not challenging green complexes, etc. But it got a high rating because it was so long. So I could swing hard, spray and pray, and score well (relative to my handicap).
    • Do need a special ferrul. Thanx 😉
