Are there any good drivers out there for <$60? Maybe an older Titleist or TM? Or Nike? I want a backup driver that I can keep at my vacation spot.
What I Play:

Driver: Sasquatch SUMO² 9.5º Stiff
Hybrid: HiBore 16º (3W replacement)
Irons: Staff Ci6 3-PW StiffWedges: Vokey Spin Milled 54.10 60.04Putter: Newport Studio Style 35"Ball: Pro V1xAge: 15

They have a pretty good deal right now at Golf Galaxy on the MacGregor MacTec NVG2 driver. It's going for $99.97

I know you said less than $60, but I just thought I'd mention this one since I saw it on there the other day. I believe it's a few years old, but I've heard good things about it and I'm sure it'd be an adequate backup. I recently bought a Titleist 975J off of Ebay and it cost me less than $50. Granted, it has some scuffing on the sole, but it beats the heck out of the Knight driver I used to have.
As long as you dont mind a driver that has some slight imperfections, Ebay is a great place to get a deal. Just make sure the seller is a reputable one.

Yeah, I get 90% of my stuff from ebay. I'll look into the 975J.

All of my set is from Ebay too. Its a great place to get a killer deal, you just gotta watch who you do business with.
Ive always had good luck with Ebay (knock on wood), but Ive heard a lot of horror stories about Ebay.

My back up driver is a Callaway C4. Not the longest but it is straight as an arrow. I think you can get one for $60 on callaways used site.
Great driver if you can get past the fact that it makes no noise when you hit it!

Tommy Armour Ayrtime is $50 from Sports Authority. Was on the Hot List a couple of years ago. I have hit mine side by side with a Burner and a Hi Bore and I am not giving up a thing. I actually have two, so that I can mess around with the shaft on one and not have to screw up my gamer.

      My flop shots are 6-7° down (AoA). Does that answer it? 😄  The longer answer is… You have to be able to do both shots.

      I hope you don't mind me raising this one from the dead. I got shortgamechef's video access thing for a few months in 2024. I watched his yip fix videos (the general gist is similar to the first video above, but with a lot more detail) and it made a lot of sense. I was working on it in my backyard off a mat for a while and my yippy thing was mostly gone. Aside from anything else, the flop shot using that technique is so easy and controllable. But I got onto a golf course for the first time of the year and found myself by the green on a downslope with the ball sitting down a little in the rough and I was, not to put too fine a point on it, f***ed. Shallow is all well and good from a good flat lie and I understand it, but you can't make that your be all and end all. I still don't know if it's a good idea to use steep all the time or just when you need to. I have a hard enough time with one technique, let alone too.  Just got a pitching skillest lesson with Erik and unless I misunderstood things some, he wants me a bit steeper. @iacas - where do you fall on the steep vs shallow argument and how do you vary it according to need?
