I got roped into setting up a golf outing for a buddy's bachelor party (golf before party). I just found out that we have five guys interested in golfing. One guy is pretty good, two of us who are average, and two who really haven't played in years.

Problem 1: The groom would like to do 18 holes but I don't know that the two rusty guys would be up to it. Problem 2: How do you set up a fivesome? It will be on a Saturday afternoon so I don't think any course will let us play with five in a group. Splitting up into two groups is even less efficient.

I guess if the two nongolfers wanted to split the 18 holes it would solve both problems.

I personally hate setting up outings or events of any kind. I'd rather walk on as a single or go play the executive course.

Any thoughts?

We did this on my youngest brothers wedding day. As far the 5-some, the course let us play together as long as we didnt slow anything down.

We ended up splitting up 2/3 with the 3 younger ones hanging out together with us 2 older ones enjoying the game a bit more.

There was only so much I could take of 3 guys unclipping the straps so eachothers clubs would fall off of the cart.

In all honesty if you are honest with the club up front they will probably let you play together as long as you agree to let faster groups go through.

some courses allow this (5 persons), but I wouldn't bet on it taking place on a weekend......(Saturday) have you thought about asking the 2 non-golfers if 1 of them would be willing to just tag along for the fun of it and not actually play (I understand the discomfort with asking but it would solve a huge situation) or have you thought about asking another person or 2 so that it would equal out to 2 (foursomes)

Agreed - if you called enough courses, you'd find one that would be cool with the fivesome. May not be the best course around, but problem solved. Better solution is to just find one more person for two threesomes.
