  1. 1. Finish this sentence: Michelle Wie is...

    • highly overrated.
      2
    • the Next Big Thing.
      4
    • making my crotch hurt from all this fence-sitting. I dunno.

I think she should concentrate on winning. She hasn't really done that yet. She's a tremendous talent, but every big winner I can think of places a lot of importance on getting into position to win and then closing the deal.

I don't begrudge Wie playing the one PGA tournament as a PR stunt - it's fine.

I do wonder when she's going to win. If she's good enough to nearly make the cut in a PGA Tour event (and this year who knows?), then she should be good enough to win two or three prestigious female amateur golf tournaments per year. At least the girls junior!

I think Wie's got a very long way to go. She's super talented, but she hasn't really won anything yet. I like what Fred Couples had to say, using the analogy of getting an Indy car team together and racing in the Indianapolis 500 and coming in last, is that really a big achievement? I think she needs to dominate the amateur and junior events before going gun-ho into the PGA tour.

If I was going to pick the next big thing in women's golf, it'd be Paula Creamer.

Darn right. It'll be interesting to see how she fares in her first year.

Can't argue with that. I, too, agree.

Michelle Wie is just... there are so many young athletes (and getting younger every year) that get so much media hype. Even the ones that perform well go through slumps, though. Look at Sergio. He had to reinvent his swing and is just now coming back into his own on Tour. I think Wie has the God-given talent, but whether she puts that to use and wins or not isn't something we'll know for a very long time.

I think the better question would be,

Who here wishes they were 15 again?

She was on Golf Channel Live at The Mercedes Championship yesterday, and man, is she cuter than cute. And that's all I'll say about that, as I don't want to turn into "dirty old man."

In all seriousness though, she did make the cut in all 7 LPGA events she played in last year. That means something to me. Next big thing? Who knows. But definitely, the next something.

She doesn't look 15, I'll agree with you there. And, well, I'm merely surprised one of those countdown-to-18 counters hasn't turned up as they did for the Olsen twins, Mandy Moore, etc.

Watching more TGC yesterday, and on Golf Hawaii, Mark Rolfing had an interview with her. She's rad. I hope she gets at least a top ten this week! I see Tucson AZ dude picked her on his ESPN fantasy team.

It is hard to say. She is an amazing golfer...for her age. She is amazing for 15 and she will bloom into a great player. She is not at the stage in her career phiscally or mentally to compete seriously with the pros and sucede. In a few years when there is money involved she will be amazing and fight sorentstan every LPGA tourneyment and she will be in some matchplay events also. But now she just isnt there yet. 3 putts and hitting aproaches over the green is ok for us sometimes but if you on tour you will just get laughed at and I dont think she is old enough to take all that battery from the press.

I like Michelle Wie, but whatever that dead pink animal is on top on top of her head , she needs to get rid of it.

She looks hideous.

Amazing, OVER 13 years, and I think they said on last nights final round telecast, she's still only 26. (too lazy to google). Such a strange career. Certainly not the way those of us who remember her back then would have imagined it playing out.
