Do you grip at the end of the club or choke up?

I think I may have stumbled on an issue of mine because of this thread. Everyone here talking about choking down or at least being completely on the shaft. My left pad is hanging over(not completely on the shaft) in my grip. I think this may be a problem and causing some of my control issues. Any ideas what this can cause? I assume I should make the change and get my entire left hand at least on the shaft if not down about 1/4 inch clear of the butt?

Long time ago I did the same thing, i.e. have the pad of my hand sorta hang off the top of the grip. Now, I grip so that none of my hand goes beyond the grip. My thought is, you would have to grip the club pretty tight to have total control, so it, or your hands don't move while swinging. Having the grip in your fingers, and not the pad of your hand, also makes for better contact. If you search, there's a thread somewhere re: how to grip the club. Hope that helps.
