I played 27 holes yesterday and we had a cart. This was the first course I've played at that gave you a wet towel in the cart to wipe down your clubs with after each shot. It was the first time I've seen it and I thought it was awesome. I mean, I'd rather use their towel to wipe down my clubs than to use the $15 towel I ordered online and have that get all crapped up with mud and dirt.

Is this common for a lot of courses?

Many of the courses around here mount a club and ball washer right on the cart. I bring a separate towel to drive stuff off.

I too have seen that at many places I have played. I have never seen a course provide a wet towel, ever, and honestly that's the first time I've ever heard of it.

When I was on holiday in Myrtle Beach last April, all of the courses put at least 2 towels / player in the carts; that was nice too.

My club has a stack of towels and a bucket of water where it's handy. Not only nice for keeping clubs clean, but much easier to clean the ball after marking on the green.

During the hot summer months, some of the upscale courses in Arizona bring around fresh towels soaked in ice water. These are not for your clubs but to put on your head to cool you down. Refreshing!

I believe they did that for us at the Biltmore back in the late 90s (I used to take golfing vacations to Scottsdale - - - always in July and August, when rates were waaaaay daown!). I had forgotten about that.

Every cart at our club has two nice towels in the cubbie holes plus a club/ball washer on the back side of the cart with two more towels affixed to the back so that as you get back to the cart, you can dip your club in the washer and towel it off and throw it in.

No towels is a pet peeve of mine and most clubs don't have anything. It'd probably cost $500 one time to buy enough cheap towels to throw in the carts and they'd last for years. If it's not rain, it's the mud or the sand or the dew or sweat, just throw a towel in there.

    • Day 21 - 2026-01-10 More mirror work focused on hip.
    • I appreciate that you have taken the time to come back and update. Based on what was previously discussed I feel like the points were; forged, feel good, price, and possibly players distance. If you like the "looks" of those Maxfli irons and if price is a major point, then going straight to the source, Maltby, might make sense. Specifically, the TS3 iron. I was looking into this myself and found some reviews: Fit2YouGolf, Lets Play Thru, and ELITE FIT GOLF. As per your update I found the Maxfli to be ~$1300 fitted the way I wanted. Where the TS3 with the same fitting and assembled by Golfworks was less than $750. I suppose the downside is to actually hit the iron you will need to get lucky and find someone in your golf circle who will let you hit theirs or order a 6 or 7 iron to test. However, the way I look at that is being equivalent to some fittings. If you like the results and buy, then the fitting is free, otherwise the price of the fitting is a sunk cost. If name brand is important, then I submit for your consideration - THE BEST OVERALL IRON of 2024...... FACT !! 😉 A bit tongue in cheek that but also, I feel some good points were discussed.
    • Day 150 1-10 focus on arching the wrist and getting the ball to go left. Recorded, hit foam balls.
    • Day 467 - 2026-01-10 Practiced at Pinehurst every day I was there, and before Junior Elite this morning I got fifteen minutes of backswing checks in the mirror in.
