well after 4 putting once and 3 putting twice i can not stand to look at my oddyssy two ball again, it is a good club but not the right one for me. I am looking for a putter that has a lot of stroke to it so it feels like it swings it self, any suggetions.

It sounds to me like your looking for a heavier putter. I know what you mean.

Take a look at the Ping Putters, all of them are really bottom heavy. As well as the TM Spider.

It sounds like you want something with a heavier head. Heavy Putter has many different heads that will assist you in stroking the ball.

Before you go out and plunge on a new putter ... why not just put some lead tape on the 2ball to make it heavier?

don't be afraid to spend some money on a lesson with a pro who has reputation for teaching the short game. He or she will be able to point you at the best putter for you. you can buy a putter but not a putting stroke.

putters are 10-20% of a good putt, your putting stroke makes up 80 - 90% of a good to great putt.

If you watch the pros, they putt with their shoulders and not with their hands. if you are 4 and 3 putting, you distance control needs improvement regardless of what putter you are using, if you buy another putter within time you will have to deal with the same putting problems.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Long term solution: Buy the Art of Putting, a putting curve style training tool, get your putter fitted (blade style), and grind.

Short term solution: Get a spider or sabertooth, or a rife putter.

DISCLAIMER: Getting a new high moi putter will only help so much, I highly recommend the long term solution.

My sentiments exactly. If you are using a straight back straight through / pendulum style, there is no need in changing the putter or putting style.

Work on the reasons why there was a 4 putt situation and a 3 putt situation, first, then if there is just that much negativity with that particular putter - then change it. I had the same question a while ago: http://www.network54.com/Forum/52812...nating+3+putts

My love affair with my 2-ball is drawing to a close, too.

It's looking like a RedX3 or a Tiffany very....very soon. It can't be the archer....must be the bow.

I made the switch from an Odyssey blade to the Odyssey Marksman last year and my putting improved significantly. The weight has made a difference but the two straight white lines make it so easy to square the putter to the target line (using the line on my ball). It has been a major improvement. If you're not so disgusted that you're going away from the Odyssey line altoghether give it a try. Good luck!

I would have to first ask why you are 4 and 3 putting? My guess is distance control. Few putts are missed by more than a couple feet off line. Many putts are way short or long. If you are more than a foot or two off line on your putts, maybe you could spend some time on the practice greens reading putt breaks. If you are still offline, check the lie of your putter. A toe up or down position can lead to more missed lines than changing the make of a putter ever could.

As for lag putting, I coined a term my playing partners are now using against me. "Roll the ball at that big ol' 6 foot Chicken Bucket". If you can putt the ball in a 6 foot circle you will always be 3 feet from the hole. To control your speed better, try holding the club very softly and loosely in your fingers (more than your palms). This will give you a ton of feel and touch. Hold it so softly that it almost slips out of your fingers. But keep your wrist angles firm and intact, especially the right wrist.

As for putters, I'm a straight back and through guy. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Ping G5i Craz-E. It "rolls" the ball with no hop whatsoever. I'm bad about changing clubs, especially irons. But this putter has been in my bag for 2 or 3 years and it is going nowhere, EVER! It actually felt so heavy stock off the shelf that I added a heavier Winn square grip (not one of those K J Choi things) to bring down the swingweight a bit. I would highly recomend a squarer shaped grip for a back and through putter as it helps take the wrist action out of the stroke.....Anyway, good luck.

    • Day 27 (7 Dec 25) - Got in a few swings with 9i and hard foam balls in backyard.  Setup weight fwd (rebuilt left foot really lets me feel the weight in a slightly painful way) - kept the backswing to around 9 o’clock focusing on contact and resulting divot pattern.  Like how the hard foam balls come off the face (almost like real balls in sound).  A good abbreviated session as I only able to hit about a dozen balls in the fading light.
    • Day 117 12-7 A bit of chipping practice today. Full swing- hit some real balls to see where Im at.
    • Not the part I was replying to: Handicaps did not go down much (like 0.14 on average IIRC?) when we went from 10/20*0.96 to 8/20. And a good chunk of that was from the +s.
    • I think he meant in the UK. The old system was completely different from the new one. 10/20 x 0.96 vs 8/20 would really only impact very low handicaps I think. The 0.96 serves to increase differentials for plus differentials, where 8/20 vs 10/20 works to lower differentials for all. I don't know many plus golfers who would be upset that their index got lower. A lot of really good players don't even really keep their handicaps up-to-date. They're much more interested in their WAGR rankings which get them entries to certain events.
    • Day 433 - 2025-12-07 Got some work in after Junior Elite before a night of sports (and the return of my wife!). Backswing work. Similar to what a lot of my juniors are doing.
