What should the head postison be on chips?

I found today that on short chips (inside 15 yards) I sort of turn my head with the chip. I tried keeping my head all the way down and not looking at the ball until my follow threw was completed, but it felt awkward, what do you guys do on chips?

My head stays still like on a full swing.

1) feet together
2) hips open
3) weight forward
4) shoulder moving the club and not your hands
5) learn the distance with the length of your backswing
6) slight forward press

On chip shots, I use a putting grip and putting stroke.
Also, I usually use a 7-iron. I find that with a 7-iron there is much less of a chance of hitting it fat than if I use a 56* or 60* wedge.
Ive tried using a wedge, having a closed stance and playing it back in my stance but I always end up hitting the ball way too hard and knocking it 20' past the hole.
