I’m looking though online golf store accessories, and I got to wondering.. Outside of the basics (clubs, bag, balls, tees, brush) What do you consider your most important or your most favored accessory?

Is it a ball marker? Divot repair tool? Towel? Heh

Or, what do you consider so important, that it should be included as a basic need? ( I do not own a marker, divot repair myself as I know a tee can be used as a makeshift for both)

I have a Divvy that I will never get rid of. It is a brand of divot repair tool, with a magnetic ball marker attached. My ball marker is of Sound of Freedom Golf Course aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point. I was stationed there and spent countless hours on the base course. It was there that I really developed my golf game.

I found a silver dollar just off of #9 green when I was just a kid, like 8 or 9 years old. I've carried it with me every day since in my wallet and used it as my ball mark for every round as well. It was infamously known as "the manhole cover" during my days in high school. Because it can be so intimidating if it's a competitors line, I've always been sure to carry a dime with me as well.

For me, that's the one accessory that I can't see myself playing without. It's seen every round for nearly 20 years. It was there when I broke 50, there when I broke 40, there again when I broke par, and (once again) there when I finally achieved a positive handicap. Now that I'm getting back into the game, it's still here with me, hoping to see another positive handicap.

My little portable cooler, that keeps my drinks cold on ice while I play a round. It's always nice after a birde to come back to a cart with an ice cold gatorade or w.e....

Groove sharpener. Not only for sharpening the grooves, but just to clean them and get all the dirt/grass out.

A wood tee works great for that and has the added benefit of not making your grooves non-conforming.

I have a Divvy that I will never get rid of. It is a brand of divot repair tool, with a magnetic ball marker attached.

Just make sure you know how to use it correctly!

Way too many people out there killing the greens with incorrect repairs.

Belgian 50 franc coin, from the pre euro days. My best friend in 5th grade gave it to me and its been my marker ever since I visited him this past summer. I realized it was the perfect marker. Its small but dense, and is just great.

On a side note:

Even though they were exluded, I carry a bunch of shortened stinger tees. I love the 2 3/4 inch pro xl's for the driver, and I make the shorties from the 2 1/4 stingers. They make the best par 3 and 3 wood tees ever. I used to hate using a long tee or a broken one for that reason, but they are amazing.

My divot repair tool and hat clip...both have magnetic ball markers with the NCAA mascot for the Duke Blue Devils. My grandfather graduated from there and remained a lifelong fan of the school. We played many memorable rounds together that added up to more time spent together than all the other time added up.

I often think of him on the golf course. I'll repair the results of a shot into a green and see his Duke Blue Devil on the divot tool or when looking down at the ball marker just before placing my ball for a putt. Both cases I'll sometimes think that he'd say, "Nice shot son, very nice".....or "Get steady....and make this put".

Maybe I should put a Duke Headcover over my driver, too.

I would have to say my towel but I did see an ad for an amphibian towel you pour water on the inside and the outside stays dry so you can get the clubs clean and dry I will probably pick one up.
