Played my first round with my new driver today.

All I can say is that I am extremely pleased. There is some magic built into that club. I started out the round trying to muscle it around like I did with my old tour stiff TM driver.

I finally settled my arse down and focused on making a smooth swing and the proper finish.....the club responded beautifully when I'd do so. It took me a few holes but I finally let the shaft do it's job. The ball was launched well. I got into trouble on a few holes where the driver was simply too long (gradual doglegs).

It proved to be highly workable...again when I'd do my part. All that was required for a fade was a slightly opened stance and a high finish. Draws were a matter of a square-to-closed stance and a low & around the body finish.

Smooth swing, low grip pressure, zero shoulder tension, allow it the time needed to complete it's arc and bombs were resultant.

Par five number 10 hole, I cracked open an ice cold Miller Lite...drained about half of it and put a smooth swing on it....nutted down the center, best drive of my group. Left me a shot with my G10 hybrid that was just short of the green.

I'm gonna love this driver....already it's like dating a good looking gal that you've been after for a while. I'm proposing and may the honeymoon last forever.

Thanks PING & thanks everyone on here who advised me to try this driver!!!!!

It is so nice to be hitting higher drives that carry a ton. I can't believe how easy this club is to hit if I simply swing smooth. Makes me feel oh so stupid for trying to swing my guts out with the old driver.

Yep, I really like it a lot too. You have to remember to swing easy.

The forgiveness is incredible though. Lately I've hit a lot of shots off the toe, but the people I've played with say "great" shot because the ball flight is still pretty good and it goes pretty far even though it's off teh end of the club.

congratulations on the driver! Wish I could get one immediately but am not giving up my driver just yet, if i replace the stock shaft and see that i cant still get the results i want then its the G10.

for now am very happy with my 3 wood as it doubles as my driver right now, am hitting it at the 230-240 range which doesn't sacrfice a lot of distance for me from the tee. Wish i went for the G10 driver instead when I had the cash...

Love my G10 driver, and it does like a easy swing. IMO, it is the longest driver PING has ever made.... jmoc

Just got the call from the pro shop my G10 came in this afternoon. I'll be hitting a bucket tonight. Perhaps I'll have a "doctors appointment" tomorrow morning and get in late to work.

Cheers.

Sweet. I hope you like it like I'm enjoying mine.

I grew so used to having to swing hard with my old TM. It had a heavy & stiff shaft that wasn't what I needed. The new one is very limber.....and it allows me to be smooth and finish the swing in beter balance. It is the first time I've ever had a club where I felt the shaft truly did "all the work". Funny thing is that I have the V2 HL in my 1hybrid and it is stiff as a board....giving me a much lower ballflight. Sure does cheat the wind.

I have been contemplating getting a G10. I still use the G5. I love the G5 and can't justify buying a new driver just yet. I just spent what would've been a G10 driver on a new putter.

How do you get this (In My Bag) info with all the logos etc. on your posts??? Sorry I'm new here!

The G5 is what led me to go with PINGS.....my dad plays with them and it made a huge difference in his game. He went and was fitted by a pro for their fairway woods and hybrids (the blue graffaloy regular in each)....he added the driver last. He is hitting a nice solid draw. I hit his driver once and was sooooo impressed that I knew where to look to replace my woods. It's funny as heck....we both have X14s and the same bags, although his has his course's logo on it and now an assortment of PING woods, drivers and hybrids. I wouldn't spend any money going from a G5 to a G10 if it were me....unless you just want an excuse to buy new gear. As far as the logos.....someone here told me to go to my CP screen and pull up the signature line and pull up and insert the appropriate smiley from the smiley list.

I recently switched to the G10. About 9 days ago. It is by far the best driver I have ever played. I demo'd a lot of them before getting this one. I too had played a G5 a few times and IMHO this is a huge improvement. It is more forgiving and just seems longer.

    • Day 27 (7 Dec 25) - Got in a few swings with 9i and hard foam balls in backyard.  Setup weight fwd (rebuilt left foot really lets me feel the weight in a slightly painful way) - kept the backswing to around 9 o’clock focusing on contact and resulting divot pattern.  Like how the hard foam balls come off the face (almost like real balls in sound).  A good abbreviated session as I only able to hit about a dozen balls in the fading light.
    • Day 117 12-7 A bit of chipping practice today. Full swing- hit some real balls to see where Im at.
    • Not the part I was replying to: Handicaps did not go down much (like 0.14 on average IIRC?) when we went from 10/20*0.96 to 8/20. And a good chunk of that was from the +s.
    • I think he meant in the UK. The old system was completely different from the new one. 10/20 x 0.96 vs 8/20 would really only impact very low handicaps I think. The 0.96 serves to increase differentials for plus differentials, where 8/20 vs 10/20 works to lower differentials for all. I don't know many plus golfers who would be upset that their index got lower. A lot of really good players don't even really keep their handicaps up-to-date. They're much more interested in their WAGR rankings which get them entries to certain events.
    • Day 433 - 2025-12-07 Got some work in after Junior Elite before a night of sports (and the return of my wife!). Backswing work. Similar to what a lot of my juniors are doing.
