  1. 1. How do you add up your scorecard?

    • I add up the scores after each nine holes.
      18
    • I add up the score every so often, just to see how things are going.
      6
    • I keep track hole-by-hole; I know exactly where I stand all the time.
      14
    • I don't keep track; I just add up the totals at the end of the round.
      12

Add up at the turn and then after the round. But I'm always aware of where I stand, I don't think it really impacts my game if I'm counting or not.

In a friendly round of golf, I just add up my score after each nine. Then I go drink beer!
In a competitive match, I (have to) mark each hole (won/lost/tied), but still add up where I am in the match after each nine.
But, you should be able to tell (I know I can) where you stand in your match against your opponent.
I don't like paying too much attention to where I am during the match (as far as score is concerned). I think it puts too much pressure on me to shoot a certain number on the closing holes when I pay too much attention to where I am hole-by-hole.
Then I go drink beer!

I usually only check my scorecard every nine holes. I realized I start playing worse when I check exactly where I'm at every single hole. That being said, you generally know about where you are regardless of whether you're checking or not.

I don't consciously stay aware of my scorecard, but since I'm generally +/- 6 of par, it's not like I don't know where I stand anyway.

I agree. Most lower handicaps know where they stand in relation to par. It's when you're taking 8's, 9's, etc. on holes when you lose track. I can understand that. At that point, does it matter? The goal at that point is to simply try and make a few good swings and see if you can't get a par somewhere (or maybe more).

It matters to the person making the 8s and 9s. Maybe (well, obviously) not to you but yeah it does. Even YOU have to take an 8 or a 9 on a hole once in a while, does it matter to you then? Or do you just F- off the whole round or do you try to make it up somewhere. Pretty much a high and mighty comment, Doc. Also, obvious to me but maybe not obvious the way the poll is written, is the poll is about non-competitive rounds; of course you gotta keep better track in a match or tournament than in a practice round or your Saturday out with the guys round.

I only add it up after nine, but I usually know about how many over par I am.

    • Day 24: did a stack session. Worked a bit on downswing feels during breaks.
    • Day 444 - 2025-12-18 Light day of hotel room work. GEARS Summit v2.0 today. Good day.
    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
