A ton of the Hillary vote? Just the fact that Palin is pro-life will keep Hillary supporters from voting for McCain.

It will get him a small fraction of Hillary supporters, but definitely won't make a huge difference.

This is actually a terrible move that won't matter because America won't vote for Obama when it matters.

So much of this campaign has been built around experience, and that's McCain's strong suit. Now he has an amateur VP and the Democrats will continue harping on the age issue. If McCain dies in office, do you want her to be president? She's been governor for 2 frickin' years.

When it comes down to it, McCain is going to win in a landslide anyways, but if he weren't starting this race so far ahead anyways, this wouldn't be a very good choice.

Obama has a couple years of experience as a Senator and some as a State senator. Whats the difference? She was a mayor before she was a governer.

Let's consider: Senator from Illinois, living in Washington, making connections on a national scale. Governor from Alaska , living in Alaska , making connections in, uh, Alaska .

I mean, I was never voting for Obama because his healthcare plan pretty much sends my college career to the shitter, but if McCain's strength is built on experience, why would you go out and get a Veep with none?

(She get's my vote for "Vice Presidential Candidate I'd Most Want Sleep With," though)

I didn't see this move coming. I'm not sure which side of the fence I'm on in regards to the election. To get just a bit off topic does anyone have any unbiased websites I can look at to be able to form a better opinion on both candidates? If so please PM those to me so we don't take up any more space.

Now back to the topic.

WTF's the VP do anyway?

I think they do something with the Senate or House and they run and hide first if there is a possible threat. They call it being put in a safe house but I think they are just chicken shit.

They're cat herders, yeah. They do some wrangling in the House and Senate, and take on a few smaller issues like the environment or whatever, but that's about it. I put a teeny bit of stock in the "experience" argument for a President, but I couldn't care less about an experienced (or not) VP.

I was thinking the same thing and agree with you, completely. But, I still think it was a very smart move....

    • Yeah, I don't really see the problem with what he said in the interview. Nothing wrong here imo. He's not the biggest fan of team events and isn't quite comfortable in it compared to every other week where it's just himself. Just because he's one of the best players in the world doesn't mean he's supposed to be a huge fan of team events. IIRC, Tiger didn't come across as the most enthusiastic player in those events either, at least not in some parts of his career. People are different and not everyone enjoy playing in a team. Some love that stuff and soak up all the energy. Others have their energy sapped by those things. It is of course the same for every player, deviating from the typical tour routines, but people deal with it in different ways. Brooks might be one that struggle more with the transition, but I doubt he's the only one.

    • Day 201.  Played 18 holes today.  A course where I should have hit more than the 5 GIR I hit and should have shot lower than the 87 I did.  The driving range was closed before the round, and I hit my opening tee shot O.B..  😞  Not sure why I missed so many shots, especially driver, right.  Will have to do some outdoor practice to complement my indoor practice to ensure I'm not getting wild.
