By every single standard, including recent victories (two by Clarke), Faldo should have picked the Irishman inspirator. Besides a mouth, what else does Poulter "bring to the table"? The only explanation is that Faldo does not like Darren and this was his chance to "stick it to him", so he did. This does fit in with Faldo's personality.

Given the positive reasons for picking Darren Clarke (remember when he showed his moxie by BEATING Tiger Woods in the 36 hole match play final a few years ago?), I cannot think why the reasons for picking Poulter would offset the ones for picking Clarke. Can you tell me what strong positives Poulter has shown in the last month that fit this bill?

This has been discussed in previous posts, besides we will never know why Faldo chose who he did, knowing Faldo's character none of us can assume he did anything but research the topic fully before he made his decision, to say him and Darren Clarke not getting along is the *only* feasible reason is ridiculous to say the least.
