OK, I've given it some more thought myself. If I was going to buy equipment this year, I'd be looking at:

Ping G5 hybrid
Nickent 3DX DC Ironwood hybrid
Titleist 775.OS irons
Callaway X-Tour lob wedge (with Mack Daddy grooves)
Titleist Vokey Spin Milled oil can sand wedge
Odyssey Tri-Ball SRT putter
Titleist Circa 62 putter (no. 3)
Etonic G-Sok shoes
Adidas Tour 360 shoes

A pretty long list. Good thing my wife hides the checkbook.

Well I just got a Red X putter and both Callaway and Nike have come out with tweaked versions of golf balls and I admit Iam the King of golf ball junkies.I might look at new wedges for this year since all the rest of my bag is less than a year old.

I've already been doing my part to help the economy!

Recent acquisitions: MP60s last fall and just got an F50 3-wood. Also added an Ogio Grom bag.

Next to buy?: (I shouldn't even be looking, but naturally I am.) I'm in the driver market. I've been playing an SMT 455 the last two years. It's been great, but ... Leading contenders at the moment are the Cleveland Launcher 460 and HiBore (when it arrives), Nike SQ, and the Cobra F Speed. The new MacTec and the Cally FT3 or 460X could still get in the mix. A big day in the launch monitor is approaching!

I'm also intrigued by the soon to be released Cleveland 588s DSG wedges, as well as the Vokey Spin-Milled. We'll see about those.

My putter is in no danger at the moment. That could always change, however.

The most important thing I'll buy this year is more lessons.

I just purchased a used Ping Putter: G2 ZSB. I previously used a putter I got for $5 from a discount store (Ollies).

Irons would be next on my list as I'm using a $90 set (purchased for $50 on sale at Boscov's). I couldn't even tell you the name.

That being said, at what point does it make sense to get custom fitted? This is only my second season playing, thus the cheap clubs. But I think I'm hooked. Do I get an interim set of irons now that will last me for a few years until I'm 'worthy' of a custom fitting. The reason I ask is because I wonder if custom fitting is worth it since my swing mechanics are likely to change greatly in the next few years as I get more playing time and more lessons.

Well I already boought new wedges and I have too many putters already but am excited to see the Bettinardi/Mizuno ones but I'm pretty set on clubs for now.

Okay I couldn't resist. I ordered the following clubs to try out, not sure if they will bump my other clubs but time will tell when I get them in.

I would agree for the most part that there are certainly more new drivers and putters on the market to begin the 2006 season. Myself, I'm in the market for a driver. However, Titleist looks to open up the season by introducing a few new sets of irons that look promising.

It all started January this year, My cousin knows a Titleist rep and got me a really great deal with the 905T (fujikura tour platform shaft 26.3- stiff). ...thats one purchase this year

Then i went and tried out his 904f 3wood (fujikura tour platform shaft 27.3 - stiff) and never gave it back, ofcourse I paid for it. ...thats 2 purchases this year.

Then I went and bought a TaylorMade Rescue Dual 19* hybrid, but never really liked it, so I bought a 904f 5wood (fujikura speeder shaft - stiff). ....thats 4 purchases this year

I needed to upgrade my irons because swing out grew my Cleveland TA7's already. Ofcourse theres only one way to go and that's Titleist. I just recently bought the Titleist 735cm's (dgs stiff) just last week, feels good to have matching woods and irons. ...thats 5 purchases this year.

I already was thinking of changing putters to either the Titleist RED X. My cousin just called me and he said the 905s are already available.

Titleist just keeps rocking my world. I am totally Titleist whooped!!! They make really good stuff.

I forgot to mention that last month I purchased 3 new CG10 wedges - thats a total of 6 purchases this year and it's only March.

I am looking to change the irons this year. There is a Demo Days this weekend with multiple brands and I will be there. I am thinking Titleist or Ping, but I am open to suggestions.
