We finally got around to "No Country for Old Men" night before last. While it's not my favorite Coen Bros. movie (that honor goes to Miller's Crossing) it was a damn good film. My wife was mildly put off by some of the violence but enjoyed it thoroughly as well.

For light, romantic comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall, is pretty fine entertainment as well.

Just a warning... Forgetting Sarah Marshall, like other Apatow films can be a bit vulgar, it you are put off by that.

Did you see Knocked Up? If so, and you enjoyed it, it's likely you'd enjoy Forgetting Sarah Marshall as well.

What kind of flicks do you and the wifey usually like? Comedies, action/adventure, horror, chick flicks???

"No Country for Old Men" was excellent. The plot was a little evasive at first, but stick with it. I think it even beats my previous Coen Bros. favorite, "Fargo".

Not so much an Apatow fan.

"Stranger Than Fiction" really surprised me, and is now one of my favorite films. (Note: It stars, among others, Will Ferrell. But don't expect a typical Will Ferrell movie [i.e., "Old School", "Anchorman", etc]. His acting impressed me.

I recently saw this older movie called "The Sixth Sense". Be careful not to let anyone tell you about it though, because it could ruin the whole movie. If you really want to know though:

Give me a break. Did you really think I was serious there?

I'm sure you've seen it by now, but "The Bourne Ultimatum" just hit cable and I remembered how much I liked it. Great action flick.

I've got "There Will Be Blood" on my TV stand, but haven't watched it yet.

Did you ever see "3:10 to Yuma". I liked that one.

Geez, I'm blanking on anything else at the moment. Sorry.

I couldn't agree more. Saw this with no expectations, and was sooo pleased. Will Ferrell can actually stir empathy and emotion. Who would have thought it possible??

Another whole-hearted agreement. If anyone had ever told me, before I saw this film, that the kid who played Claire's gay boyfriend on 6 Feet Under, could also play a menacing, psycho, bad-ass gunfighter, I would have chuckled mockingly. The dude from A Beautiful Mind and the guy who plays Batman are pretty good too.

My wife and I just watched 'Flawless' with Demi Moore and Michael Caine.

Interesting diamond heist film with a twist set in London in 1960. Demi Moore looked smokin'! A little slow at first but definitely worth a look.

No Country is unbelievable.

I absolutely DESPISED There Will Be Blood, though. Just felt like 3 hours of wheel spinning with no payoff at all.

I liked "No Country". . .good flick. "There will be Blood is a good movie, but seemed to have some slow points and I kinda lost interest.

I really liked Charlie Wilson's War with Tom Hanks. Stranger than Fiction IS a great flick. I've watched it a couple times on cable the last couple weeks.

Mr. Brooks with Kevin Costner is a nice spooky murder flick.

The Ruins is an interesting scary horror, VERY GROTESTQUE! I love a good gore flick.

Just a quick FYI for those who have DirecTV, Starz/Encore has a free preview going for the weekend. I had totally forgot about it until this morning. I went through and set some recordings on my DVR, but truthfully I didn't see a lot of must see movies on the list. Worth checking out though.

Oh, and I agree with others on Stranger Than Fiction. Very surprising good movie.

I'm really glad to see that so many other people liked "Stranger than Fiction".

I'm also surprised that it didn't get more press when it came out. Considering that the director, Marc Forster, also directed "Monster's Ball", "Finding Neverland", and (later) "The Kite Runner" - you'd think he would be more recognizable and that the studio would have pushed the movie harder.

Forster also directed "Everything Put Together" (2000) and imdb.com has a user rating of 6.8/10 (pretty good). Has anyone seen that one? Worth putting on the Netflix list?

The Darjeeling Limited is a very good movie. You may not of heard of it, but it was verry good. It had comedy, action, drama, all sewn up into a visually & emotionally beautiful movie set in India. (just went all movie critic)

I'm hoping to see "Righteous Kill" in the next week, and I'm usually not a fan of "stupid" comedy but I was surprisingly entertained by "Tropic Thunder," Downey Jr. is very versatile and Tom Cruise, though he is a nut job, played up his roll pretty well too.

The Darjeeling Limited is a very good movie.

Really? Rushmore made me a huge fan of Wes Anderson, but every film since has been a letdown to me. Life Aquatic had massive potential, but failed to let the characters be authentically human, I thought. I think Anderson is to impressed by his own 'quirkiness' and lets that get in the way of story and character.

I haven't seen Darjeeling Limited, and I should probably give Life Aquatic another shot.

"Gone Baby Gone" - Who woulda thunk that Ben Affleck could direct and that his little brother could act?!?! And then there is Michelle Monaghan!

And speaking of Michelle Monaghan, definitely see "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" if you haven't already.
