I'm playing at the Cliffs at Glassy outside Greenville, SC this weekend with clients. Very nice place. http://www.cliffscommunities.com/gol.../47/section/36

Supposedly this is the location where Tiger Woods is going to put in his 1st American golf course.

Anyone played this course? Opinions?

Monsieur,

I looked at a second home in the area, and inquired about joining the Cliffs network of clubs. The $150,000 initiation fee cleared that up right quick! Just curious how you managed to get on the course, knowing that you aren't local... I asked to play a round when looking at properties, and they said no, even if I was a prospective member. Seemed odd, and maybe they weren't taking me seriously.

Anyway, they all look like gorgeous, well-maintained courses. And yes, Tiger is involved in building a new Cliffs course in the area... Enjoy the round, and post your experiences, please.

Me and the wife just played Cliffs Vineyard today. Everything is 1st class there. If you get a chance try to go there too.
FWIW, if you buy property the family membership is only 50k now.

I ended up playing at the Cliffs at Keowee Vinyards because the Cliffs at Glassy were being earrated and was closed. We had someone in our company that has a membership and was able to set up the tee time.

The course is amazing and is the first Fazio course that I have played. The course goes through the natural terrain very nicely with elevated greens, shots over canyons and water and breathtaking views. The course was in superb condition and it was a great round.

We had dinner at the clubhouse afterward and the food was exceptional. The service is top notch. On a side note...I was wearing some cargo shorts and they almost made me buy some regular shorts as they have a no cargo short policy. I'm glad that they let me slide...but I didn't see any information on the web site...as if I had, I would have dressed apporpriately.

I would love to go back some day and when I have an extra $150k lying around, I would consider joining!

Just wondering what you shot?
Me:92. With alot more 3 putts than 2. Finaly learned my lesson after 12 and left everything short of the pin!!

Shot a 94...certainly not my best showing. I put a lot of balls into the trees and I think I took 5-6 penalty's because of that. It took me about 4 holes to settle down and I started playing better. I think that if I played it again, I would certainly see a better score. My putting was great...just took me a bit to get to the green. Beautiful course.

Vinyards is far easier than Glassy; I would guess 8-10 strokes from the tips, especially if you haven't played either one before. You can see what you have at the Vinyards, Glassy is another story. Have to hit accurate 275 yd drives high to get anything going. Glassy sure has my respect!!!!

I've played Vineyards and Glassy. Glassy will rip your throat out. It's just a very tough course. Lots of very difficult elevation changes. Vineyards is a great track as well, just not as tough for me as the mountain course. I also echo what was said about how classy the Cliffs courses are. It's a first class operation.
