There are so many brands out there claiming to be the best in the golfing industry. In your opinion, which company is right?(considering all products in general, balls, clubs, etc.) But more importantly, defend your choice.

Thats a loaded question.Let me break it down this way for my 2 cents.

#1-Woods--Callaway,My FT-3 is far ahead of the field.

#2 Irons-Mizuno-ot for higher handicap players but overall best out there

#3-Balls--PRO V 1 no question still the ball all others hope to accend too.

#4 shoes--Foot Joy DRY JOYS still the one to beat.

#5 Gloves-Stay Soft still last the longest and is the softest.

Like I said this is my list and opinions are like---well you know.

I defend my choice by playing the clubs I use. That's the best defense there is, because it's just personal opinion.

Woods : Taylormade is the king on the tee box. There drivers are the most played by just about any level golfer. They also make a great 3 wood in the V steel.

Irons : If your looking for a game improvement iron then the choice is ping. If you are looking for an iron that better suits a lower handicap go with miszuno.

Wedges : BOB VOKEY!

Putter Ping! Thats what they started doing and thats what they are the best at!

Balls PRO V1... any questions?

I really can't say which is best, but Titleist and Taylor Made's numbers on the PGA Tour speak for themselves. I definitely those two are the best, but it's a toss-up after that.

If I had to choose, I would go with Titleist. I didn't get a chance to play with Titleist clubs until last year, but I love them now. They have great fairway woods, irons, wedges, putters, and golf balls. And my bag is Titleist as well. So I guess that answers the question for me.

Well thats a pretty subjective question. Its like asking what brand car is the best in the industry. Everyone will argue for the favorite. For me its all about what works. What may be the best for you may not be the best for me. Play what gives you the confidence to hit it well and don't worry about who says they have the best equipment.

well I personally object with having "Titleist" as the first choice in the poll..if this was a legit poll you'd know it would strictly have to be alphabettically listed..and thus

I didn't mean to put them in any particular order. I only put Titleist first because its the first name I thought of. Now that may be because its my brand of choice however I didn't want to effect the results.

Also, I was asking mainly to see what other players use and why. I understand its tough to say which is the best car maker for example. I was more asking what your favorite company is and why. Thanks.

So I'm guessing callaway is your favorite?

Well I'm sure you've seen the new club callaway is coming out with. Supposed to be great for digging out of the rough and espically good for digging out those burried lies from bunkers. Just in case you missed it I found a picture of it for you. I'm sorry I couldn't resist that. I really don't mind callaway clubs. In fact they would probably benefit my game a bit. The only thing I've never really cared for about the callawy line is the size of their irons.

Everyone will give you a different answer to this question and there is definitely no correct answer. I'll just go ahead and break these down with my own opinions:

Titleist: Great balls, irons, woods. Nearly everything they do is very good.
Callaway: I'm not the biggest fan of this brand, but I've hit the FT-3 which is pretty nice, and the HX-Tour is a very nice ball.
TaylorMade: most used driver on tour, pretty self-explanitory.
Nike: OnePlatinum is a pretty good ball, haven't hit the SQ but its innovative to say the least.
Cobra: The snake's got some new fire in its belly, will be interesting to see how their goods stack up.

etc.

I'm no authority by any means, but I have noticed a fair share of COBRA branded players on the leaderbord this year so far. J.B. Holmes, Geoff Ogilvy, Camilo Villegas.

I like my Callaways, so far they've worked for me.

PING rocks a superb line of putters as well.

I was 100% Titleist until 2 weeks ago, now all I have left is my Cameron putter( which is very close to finding a new home). I like the TM Drivers better. Don't use fairway woods anymore and sorry, but Titleist sucks in the hybrid dept, at least until they release the new 503.U that DL III is playing. I like the TM rescue dual TP for its square to slightly open clubface and higher COG.
Switched from 670 forged to the Mizuno MP-60's because I just always liked the feel of Mizuno's forgings. Got rid of Vokey SM wedges and got MP-T for same reason as irons.
As said before, there is no right answer but it is nice to hear from others the clubs they play and why it fits there game. I have played all the different OEM's and at times major components and can say that they all fit someone and I just prefer my choices for my game. Never did buy into I play this because my favorite PGA player does. With my luck, by the time I would get his set up in my bag, he would sign with someone else anyway.

There's no such thing as the 503.U. "585" is the number you want to remember.

Sorry if they changed it to 585 but 9 months ago it was designated as 503 U, If your still not sure then ask Davis himself. He may have a newer one in his bag now with 585 markings but yes there was such a club before.

I did

not say there never was a 503.U. That would be rather dumb . I specifically said what I said for a reason.

Hard to say which club brand is best. I have a mixed bag of clubs just because I hit that club well. See to many people with a set of clubs and say they can't hit the 3,4 or 5 so their try to hit a club harder or easier. I found I'd rather find a club I hit to distances and fit my eye and feel than carry a club around I wouldn't pull from the bag.

    • Day 22 - 2026-01-11 More mirror work. Back outdoors tomorrow.
    • Day 11, 1/11/26.  Today was putting, along about 6' of carpet, with coins on the ground to keep me cognizant of what I'm doing.  I think this is the at-home drill from LSW. (Ugh, missed two of the last four days -- 1/10 and 1/8)
    • Day 9: 2026.01.11 Hit some balls at the range, concentrating on weight distribution at address, got some on film.
    • Day 468 - 2026-01-11 Loooooong day. Did some work in the patio door (as a mirror) when I got home.
    • I caught a video on this driver; the face tech seems crazy. Looking at the heat map for ball speed, hitting it basically anywhere on the face only loses a few percent ball speed. The surprising and counter intuitive part to me was that for flat faced clubs, ball speed loss is directly proportional to distance loss. For clubs with bulge and roll this is apparently not true. The surprising part of that story being that the max distance potential looks to be a tiny pee sized area for this driver, and I feel in general for drivers. The counter intuitive part being (the myth?) that blade irons have a pee sized sweet spot and missing that tiny spot causes dramatic losses. And that modern drivers, maybe 2017 on, have massive sweet spots and are ultra forgiving. Where in reality, if this heat map data is valid and reliable, it might be a bit of the opposite. This insane tech driver appears to have a pea sized "sweet spot" while Mizuno Pro 241 irons are 28% more forgiving compared to the average of all clubs measured. Not compared to other players irons, compared to all clubs from all categories, players to SGI! The Pro 241 being essentially just a solid chunk of metal with no "tech" at all. Which for me devolves into a whole mess of what is forgiveness really? And in measurable and quantifiable results how many yards, or feet, does that translate into?
