In your back swing.
I feel I am hitting erronant shots due to my back swing (right handed) left arm going higher than parrell to the ground.

Where do you guys stop on your back swing with your arms? Hope this makes sense.

I assume you mean your club is going over parallel to the ground? Essentially pointing at the ground at the furthest point in your back swing? I've really worked on shortening my back swing and it has helped. If you watch most pros, very few take their irons parallel to the ground. Too many bads things can happen and most of us aren't flexible enough.

No I am referring to your arm.

I am a right handed hitter, when I do my take away my left arm on my back swing goes higher than parellel to the ground. This is viewing from the side.

I know for sure my CLUB doesnt go past parallel.

I think my problem is on my back swing I am going to high with my left arm on my back swing which results in a steep plan angle and I get more inconsistenant results.

I guess I am just looking to see if this is a rule of thumb on your back swing not to go higher than parallel to the ground with your left straight arm.

I assumed you meant the Adjustable Rate Mortgage… at least when I first read it. Then I realized that I was looking at “Swing Tips, ” and not reading a report on the Case-Shiller Index.

For me it’s toe-up, wrist hinge, and shoulder turn - not so much “arms” but the synergy of the upper body getting the club into a effective launch position.

It seems when I think too much about it I screw it up. For me, tempo is more important.

Good swings concentrate on the area about 2 feet behind the ball, through the ball, and then to a nice balanced follow through. Never think how high your arm goes on the back swing, just pure it.... (ie...Zinger, JB Holmes, John Daly...totally different backswings, all of course good ballstrikers)

    • Imma throw a dart in the dark as no one can tell what is happening once every fourth iron shot per your OP. This might sound counterintuitive but if ball position is too far back in the stance folks are known to throw down clubhead steeply. Could be happening. And yes, @billchaois not wrong; clubhead tends to bottom out wherever your pressure is. So slide forward (not sway), then hit.
    • Day 300 (!): did a stack session.
    • Day 24: Missed my weekly round due to a last minute little league makeup game this morning. Managed to get in some backswing rehearsals while grilling sausages for dinner, and then putted around the office/laundry room after dinner.
    • but I don't understand how that's possible you still want your head to stay back you don't want the upper body coming forward and plus I've tried feeling that and it made my fat shots worse and I then tend to pull and sky all my shots especially with driver because I get in front of it dont need force plates to see i finish on my left side
