I just watched the show, tivo'd it earlier tonight. I'd say there was a lot of nerves out there, at least I hope that's what it was, but none of the teams rubbed me at all the wrong way, they all seem pretty enjoyable. If I had to pick one team to root for, it would be Casey and Rachel, just cos of the MSU connection. That's my favorite college.

I like the fact that the show immediately got started with the competition; didn't bore us with repetitive biographies of the teams/players. The couple of shanks, one from Brandt Snedeker's brother if IIRC, is real world so I don't mind it at all.

I would have to agree that so far none of the contestants have wrung any alarm bells, but it's hard to say at this early stage. I will suggest that the Chileans, the long-drivers, and the coaches all are possibles in the there's-a-fair-likelihood-you-will-irritate-me-before-this-is-over contest, but that's just speculation at this point. I affirmatively liked Prange (but not so much her boy toy), Andrea and her partner, the lephrauchan looking guy and his wife, and Otis and Rachel. I thought Rachel was a little firecracker. Speaking of them, did anyone else think Otis's swing looked an awful lot like Raul's from HW18? Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Leprechaun???? LOL!!! Now we know why the contestants are told NOT to read these forums -

I think Amber mentioned in her interview last night that she and boy toy have parted friendly ways, so boy toy is no more it would seem. I'm not sure I'll enjoy the subtitles for Hugo and Camila much longer - I'm too busy making notes to be reading the screen too. I hope that doesn't go on the whole show. Gayle

Yes!!!! I was thinking the exact same thing as I was watching last night: "Mr. Wristy Part II: Revenge of Tendinitis!!"

Gayle! Are you saying you don't have TiVo?!?!?

Oh, the humanity!

I have to admit, Harry, that I still live in the dark ages when it comes to TV. I bought an LCD last year and keep planning on setting up a laptop to record shows (I really don't want another box), but haven't gotten around to it. I guess I better bite the bullet or risk being shunned by the forum fans :)

Oh GolfGal!

But if you get The Golf Channel, that means you have cable or satellite TV, yes? Just ring up your carrier and ask for a DVR (Digital Video Recorder - the generic equivalent of TiVo). The DVR will combine the cable/satellite box and the DVR into one unit. Viola! Same number of boxes, but now you can record, pause, rewind, etc! I'm telling you, it will change the way you watch TV. No joke. I got a TiVo as a gift from my parents for Christmas 3 years ago. I thought "Pffftt. I don't even watch that much TV. What do I need this thing for?" Ummm, yeah. Couldn't live without one now. And as always, I look forward to your interviews with the contestants. The "behind the scenes" information makes the show so much more interesting. Clicking over to your site to listen right now! EDIT: Hey!!!!! I'm down!

Oh GolfGal!

Oh dear...now I have to come clean...

Last year when I bought my HDTV with an HD box, I didn't buy the one with the built in recorder - I was like you, I said, "Pffftt. I don't even watch that much TV. What do I need this thing for?" Now I wish I had bought the one with built-in DVR, but hindsight is 20/20 and I'm obviously blind as a bat - laser surgery and all! My laptop says that it has a TV tuner in it and that I can watch, pause, record, rewind, TV etc all from my laptop - I just have to figure out how. What's nuts???? I have a freekin computer science degree and I still get lost in this new technology - Ooops! I am starting to show my age. Enough of that. Thanks for the note about my interviews. I really do appreciate it. If you ever want me to ask something - you know how to reach me :) Cheers Gayle

I don't want to take this thread too far off topic, but I bet you can "upgrade" your receiver. Give your provider a call and see what they can do for you. Sometimes, it's just a swap with an additional rental charge. Sometimes you have to pay up front for the new unit. But it's sooooo worth it.

Sorry, I can't help with the TV tuner in the computer thing. Mine doesn't have that. RE: BB:X, is it just me, or are there a disproportionate number of pixie-ish ladies (Amber, Rachel M., and Camila) on this season's show? Those girls are just tiny * , no? * Not in a negative way. Just relative to other female golfers we have seen on the show previously. (Although, the U-Dub site lists Amber at 5'6", so maybe its just a TV thing . . . or a Harry thing. Probably a Harry thing.)

Thanks Harry. Kind of nice having our own private chat room for a while :)

Back to BB... 5'6" isn't short - in fact, it's a bit above avg for ladies, so I think it's because the guys are pretty darn big - David, Michael, Otis, Rob...they all look like big boys to me - NOT that that's a bad thing ;) Gayle

Had this discussion with friends while watching it last night. What would you re-name the show?

Well since it seems to cause the breakups of a good many of the participants (at least 1/8th this time), how about "Big Break Ex" instead of "X"?

Blingos in the house!!! Amber and Andrea thank you very much! I can't believe I'm already reading this forum... I'm hooked. I don't know how much i'll post since most of the girls are my friends, but who knows? So far so good, still getting to know the teams really. Nice looking place though, lets go play!

It's "Exes." Plural, not possessive.

That bugged the heck out of me too. More than "decimal cents" (i.e.

here and here ).

I usually have some on all the Big Break series that jump out as annoying from the start ie: Don Donotello. No one last night really rubbed me the wrong way. It seemed they were all pretty guarded last night, so it'll be interesting once the pressure ramps up how long it for someone's true colors to show themselves.

you could see the egos are there, but they were held relatively in check last night.

    • Day 238: played 18. Back 9 was pretty good after a rough front 9. Then worked a bit after the round at the range, just firming up some feels.
    • Day 6 (15 Mar 25) - Played in local course’s 2man captain’s choice St Patrick’s Day tournament.  Great day of working closely with my teammate on course management process.
    • Certainly BUY used so many near new Drivers in Good condition that will suit ...which IMHO the shaft is the most important part if you want to buy new get a shaft new that suits you then find the head you like the feel off
    • I found being part of a Great Golf Club renewed my love for the game and comps ..previously at my other club I was just a player with novice player mates or solo .and that was hard to progress and drive the passion when my job was very restrictive to playing in good weather and friends couldn't play as much...  that become a grind at times and gave up the game for couple years..but now work for myself and have clear goals and new GC with serious players ongoing comps and great course I can pretty much always get on .. some great Golfing friends I made playing in the weekly comps ..I'm loving it..  Still get down on my game and can walk off gutted ..but thats the game we wouldn't love the good round if we never had bad rounds So for me maybe dropping the pressure of the HC grind and more so enjoy playing comps with others serious on the game ...understand the game is hard ,enjoy the good times and your game will develop ...
    • Big week of Golf nursing golfing elbow ....played local amazing course Arrowtown tuesday ..had a tidy 81 for what I felt wasn't my best Golf in some wet windy conditions found the greens tough to read and gave away many shots... three birdies Played my local GC wed STB mens comp... very rough whole game not happy 89 just felt tired made so many mistakes max 4-holes I played well the rest rubbish to woeful ... Friday played south of my local Alexandra in a 4ball with my mates (we have a comp same partners over the year) played pretty well after not even hitting my 3wood past the ladies tee on the 1st hole ...very slow greens to what I usually played so we made gimmes within 2ft ,,,, couple birdies .. Wasn't going play ..but wife wasn't stressed so joined into the SAT Medal comp ..teed off early .. had some brilliant holes and shots some of my best .. birdied 3x ..78 for the day gave me a 7th in SNR division. putting let me down had a 4x putt on 3rd hole PAR3 ... along with 6+ three putts ... what could have been  Now looking over the above I'm sure many thinking go sort ya putting ya idot .. but couple weeks previously I played three comps .. out of those three I only had one 3x putt my best 24 putts over a round  ... but my driver off the tee was rubbish ..
