Today we had our league match. Biggest match of the year. 18 holes with the 6 best from each of the 11 teams. I think I got around the 15 best score. There was a 70 and 71. Par 70. Front - 43 (+9). Back - 39 (+3).

My first time ever breaking 40. It went like this: birdie, par, par, double, bogey, double, birdie, birdie, bogey. I could've played better, but I'm definitely not disappointed.

Sorry I just had to tell someone.

You have a fall golf team!?! My school doesn't so and since you can't play two sports at the same time, I will play baseball. I wish we had a fall team, though.

So you have golf in the fall and football in the spring? Odd, here in MN it's other way around. We play golf in the spring and football in the fall. I actually love fall football. Late September, October and early November football is awesome! Our golf season would usually get started in mid-late March but we were on the course as early as the first week of March some years or as late as late April other years. Never can tell w/the weather up here.

Did you say football players are "queer jocks"? What??? When I was in high school it was football, basketball and golf for me. 3 captain stars to go with the 3 sports too ("stars" = captain on our letterman's jackets).

Congrats on your round. Playing well in matches always feels good. Gives you something to work for too. Once you shoot in the 30's or 70's in a match you always want to do it again. Same goes for hitting, or bettering, par. Keep working at it and you'll know that soon enough as well.

I broke into the 80's in a tournament I played in a few weeks back. This was my first time below 90. I started out pretty bad on the front nine, but (for my own personal skill level) lit up the back nine. I shot a 41 for a whopping 5 over back nine. What's really bad was the fact that I was only 2 up after 6 holes.

Finished the round with an 86 which is good for me.

I meant that we have golf and football in the fall. And baseball in the spring.

And sorry. I meant to say that some kids are queer jocks that play football at my school. One kid (probably a bout 4'8" 95 lbs. walks down the hall flexing all the time being serious)

I'm not a scratch, look at my signature. I just wanted my handicap in my signature and I couldn't leave the handicap part blank in my profile so I just put 0.0

And if I was scratch, there is no point in making that kind of statement.

I think the course you played is very important in determining how good a round really was. I shot -1 35 in a match this year on a easy public course, but the +2 38 I shot at a very hard private club we played at was definately a better round. Shooting 79 on a monster course that plays over 7000 yards is better than shooting 72-73 on some rinkydink course. Congrats on 74 in a state am thats pretty damn good for a 7 handicap.

Sometime one summer in the dim, distant past as an 18 year old I had a 67 (-3) and two 69s (-1) over a couple of weeks for some small local strokeplay comps. Memories like that (I'm sure it wasn't a dream even if it was a while back!) keep me playing in the forlorn hope of ever having a similar purple patch again....

i would have to say that it was a 77 at Downfield near dundee, the reason i say this is becuase i was a junior and came second in the scottish schools strokeplay (now tour pro alastair forsyth won) - i had 37 putts in the pissing rain round downfield - he had 28 probably why he is on tour and i aint, despite being 4 over par i hit the ball better that day than any sub par round, highlight was hitting a 3 wood onto a dogleg par 4 (around 15th i think?)

did i mention it was pissing!! the course was playing soo tough.

I am one of those "queer jocks" who played football, yet I am a much better golfer than you are, go figure.

My best competitive rounds were back to back 68's (-8 total) last year in my clubs Presidents Cup. This year has not been as good, my lowest score in a tournament this year was a 71 (-1).
