Hi all,

I'm very interested in the new Vokey wedges, but can't seem to find any information anywhere on grinds. I'm interested in the 52.08 and the 58.08. Can anyone enlighten me as the the specifics of each grind, or have they not yet been released?

Cheers,
James

The grind is whatever comes with them. You can't say "I'd like this wedge with this grind." You get whatever grind comes with that particular loft and bounce configuration.

that's a little disappointing, I was hoping there would be a selection of grinds available for each degree

I was actually digging into these wedges a little bit last night online. I just googled 2009 Titleist wedges and found several sites to look at them. Of course the Titleist home page has some pictures on there as well.

I seen they are offering the black satin finish this year. The bounces looked to be the same in most cases, with the exception of they added some higher bounce options.

Didn't see much in the way of the grinds though. If you find anything good, I would be interested to hear about it as well.

How come on the Titleist website, on the Vokey Spin Milled page where it has images of all the different wedges, it shows different grind names in the details. For example, for the 58.08 it says RH/LH (TC) and RH (OC, BN)?

I've taken this picture from the vokey website and highlighted it to illustrate what I mean. See the orange box. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought these were the names of three different grinds being offered, in which case it would suggest to me that there is a choice.

I was totally stoked about getting some Vokey wedges this winter until I really dug into the available grinds. Based on what I'm playing now, anything would be an improvement but I figure if I'm going to invest in new wedges, I going to get the lofts, bounce, grinds, shafts & swingweights that I want (and feel that I need). Although the new selection of Vokey wedges is good, it doesn't cover my needs [either].

Didn't see much in the way of the grinds though. If you find anything good, I would be interested to hear about it as well.

Personally I have scrapped the idea of going w/Vokey wedges. Instead I've contacted Ari at

Scratch Golf . Ari is a first class guy and is more than willing to really spend some time with you discussing your wedge game, what you like, what you don't like, what is lacking, etc, etc. I figure that I've spent about an hour talking with him over a few conversions as well as a number of very long emails. As a result, we've determined my ideal collection of wedges (loft, bounce, grind, shaft & swingweight). If you really want to get detailed you can pick the finish, stampings, etc, etc. They will literally custom build your wedge. Optionally, you could also just go through their basic questionnaire and buy something "off the shelf," so to speak. The catch to getting your own custom wedges is, as you could expect, green. An "off the shelf" wedge (which offers quite a few more options than the Vokey wedges) is going to set you back $199 compared to a $119 Vokey. A full custom, where you get to pick pretty much everything that goes into the wedge, will set you back $299. Is it worth the extra coin over a Vokey? I'll leave that up to you. Personally, it is to me. With all the time, energy & cash that I've invested in making sure that my driver, fairway woods, irons & putter fit me... Why wouldn't I do the same with my wedges???

TC = Tour Chrome

OC = Oil Can BN = Black Nickel They're the finishes, not the grinds.

If you go on the titleist website, there is a nice adobe acrobat file in the vokey spin milled tab that has more detail on the loft, bounce, and grind combos. Gives a description of each wedge and what type of conditions/swing path each wedge is ideally suited for.
